This is a bit surprising but looking at his numbers, he's been much worse the last couple years than I realized. I know he dealt with some injury issues but I remember when Miami was asking a king's ransom for this guy in trades. Kick the tires?

Word going around is the Dodgers are gonna pursue Aaron Judge.

They have a ton of money coming off the books, certainly makes sense. They'll be busy this winter. Still think Judge goes back to NYY at the end of the day.

There's some interesting players out there for outfield that shouldnt break the bank. Might depend what we can do with Ozuna/Rosario if anything and of course what happens with Swanson.

I have the same impression. Showed promise in 2019 and 2020 but hasn't duplicated it. I might kick the tires if there was room in the boat.

Giants and Kenley are reportedly discussing a two-year deal.

I would like to see Minter get a chance as primary closer. I'm happy to let Kenley walk. I'm sure we will still pick up another arm or two. Nick Anderson could be a big part of the picture

With the new clock rules/pitch clock, etc. It is best to let Kenley go, even though he had a much better year than people thought. Do wonder if we just slide Iglesias to closer or mix/match Minter and Iglesias for the 8th and 9th.

Supposedly Anderson has lost some zip on his fastball and thats why Tampa let him walk. He could be an intriguing piece to the bullpen though if he's healthy for sure.

Not that I necessarily disagree, but I thought I read where arm strength is harder to measure from the right side of the diamond due to so few throws at max effort/having their momentum going the opposite direction most of the time?

His max velocity is his max velocity. At some point he fired one, regardless of what position he played, and that’s all he had.

He also doesn’t stack up with other MLB 2B, who all throw from the same places and make the same plays.

Arcia had no problem posting excellent throwing numbers from 2B.

Grissom simply doesn’t have a very strong arm, and I’m not sure why folks feel they need to make excuses or find reasons why the data isn’t accurate.

I'll take your word for it on his arm strength, but additionally, he didn't look all that nimble around 2B. Granted it was pretty much a new position for him, but the bits and pieces I saw him he didn't pass the eye test. Eye tests can be misleading, but he didn't look very smooth.

Also think this clears 2 spots on the 40 man roster, fwiw.

The Atlanta #Braves today signed RHP Mike Soroka to a one-year contract worth $2.8 million, and non-tendered RHP Silvino Bracho, OF Guillermo Heredia, RHP Alan Rangel, RHP Jackson Stephens, and RHP Brooks Wilson.

He is from the Bay Area.

I think he either goes to the Giants, or the Yanks oversplash to keep him.

This puts things where they can now add FAs fairly seamlessly.

The Braves' internal analysis on Vodnik must show something they don't like. They could have dropped Rangel and Wilson when the DFAd Bracho and Heredia earlier in the week to add the other guys to the 40-man.

One of my favorite Rule 5 stories involves an exhibit of glaring ineptitude by the Braves' front office back in the late-80s. Braves had a budding prospect in Ben Rivera, a giant RHP who threw pretty hard. The front office didn't realize that he was eligible to be taken in the Rule 5 draft and left him off the 40-man roster. When it was discovered that he was eligible, the Braves actually drafted him with the first pick of the Rule 5 that winter in the only example of a team ever drafting their own guy. That was during the time when Cox was the GM and it was claimed that a clerical error was a cause for the mix-up, but I've always found it amusing. No clerical error on Vodnik, but I'm not expecting a repeat.

Their offense is already really good, but their rotation is in shambles. I could see them go after Verlander hard or possibly even deGrom or Rodon.

I think they push hard for Verlander, but i dont think they'd give him the Scherzer contract. I wouldnt say the rotation is in shambles. As of now it's: Kershaw, Gonsolin, May, Urias, and 5th spot tbd. There's much worse places to be in.

Regarding the offense, they have open spots at 3B, SS, OF/DH Only real guys they have locked in are Will Smith at C, Freeman at 1B, Lux at 2B, and Betts/Taylor/Muncy. They'll certainly be busy this winter.
