Official official offseason thread

That was an expected deal for Correa. Swanson may get 200 million now. **** is wild.

That 6/140 proposal if true would be a heist if it's true. Dansby's probably gonna sign sometime in the next week. Not sure he gets 200M, but he's getting a big payday for sure.

They should do what the other teams are doing with these SS contracts. Do 200 for 11 years and get the tax hit for 18 million.

Yikes. I don’t think anyone wants to pay Dansby when he’s 39. He doesn’t hit a lot of hrs and he doesn’t steal a lot of bases. A lot of his value is tied to his defense. Once that declines, that contract isn’t going to look so good. Pass.

Unless he signs closer to the 6/140 mark, AA is probably making the right move letting him walk. Fans will hate it and blame him like VirginiaBrave.

18 million in 2033 will be chump change

I figured Correa was going to be in SF, but I never guessed they would give him 13 years. These contracts are crazy. These teams pushing against the luxury tax are going to have some very old players making a ton of money, all in the name of dodging the tax cap right now.

If Swanson’s true value is 6/140, I have to imagine some team is going to give him something like 10/200. My money is on the cubs.

Sign me up for grissom at SS. These contracts are stupid. Swanson would have to take less money to sign here. Not happening. There is a reason we win every yr, it’s because we trust our farm system and don’t tie ourselves into bad contracts like the ones teams have handed out this off-season. Grissom showed promise last yr. Not sure why people don’t like him. Still very young and could be a great player.

Dansby, love you brother.

Go sign with dodgers or cards. You aren’t worth what you will get.

AA saying he felt Grissom And Arica can fill in Are telling.

At this point you just have to give Grissom a half season to see if he can be average with the glove. Then hopefully some guys on the farm pop and if a course correction is needed we will have chips to trade.

Really wanted Correa but not at that price tag.

I would have been willing to go to around 10/320 for Correa.

If I was AA, I might have anticipated the wild market and paid Dansby the 6/140, but not without significant heartburn. I'm not all that interested in Andrus/Iglesias. Maybe try to get A. Rosario in a cheap trade, but otherwise, invest in LF. We don't have a long-term answer there right now, and we might as well figure out if we have one in Grissom at short. Otherwise, it's pay too much for T. Anderson next winter or hope we can develop an international player quickly.

Preller, plus Mets owner, plus the Giants with a hole in their pocket is really market distorting.

Baseball executives has gotten smart it seemed. But it’s back to old times of paying players for what they have done, instead of what they are going to do. Paying players serious money into their late 30s and early 40s is not gonna age well

If he's our backup cf, then we have 2 spots left. I was just wondering if we could sign a true lf. I think we probably need the new OF to be able to play both corners

If we can get a good LF, going into season with Grissom and Arica at SS is fine. Conforto is the play, assuming it’s a very short deal.
