Official official offseason thread

I could see a trade for a SS still. Rosario shouldn’t cost much. I still like adding in bulk. Drury and Profar would make the team a lot deeper.

I guess back when players all of a sudden got 10 million a year people were like. Wow no way. Maybe the new norm is 300 million payroll. Maybe the Braves need to get there with the other leaders before we get stuck with Arcia playing everyday.

Our top 7 is Acuna/Harris/Riley/Olson/Murphy/TDA/Albies in some order, i mean thats as good/better than most lineups. AA will add someone, i'm sure of it. Look at the Dodgers/Yankees lineups before you cry about ONE spot in ours.

Rosario shouldnt cost much but what kinda players is he costing for a likely 1 year rental? Burning up this much prospect capital eventually catches up.

Agreed. I'd rather roll the dice on the internal options at SS than leverage any more asserts for Amed Rosario, who's likely a small upgrade and definitely a rental. Worst-case, someone like him is probably available at the deadline, if both Grissom and Arcía fall flat on their faces; while I think LF (and, to a lesser extent, DH, depending on how much DH time they intend to allocate to d'Arnaud & Murphy) is the principal spot for a true upgrade.

I’m fine holding par at SS until the deadline. I know this will sound nuts but next offseason I’d go full boar after Ohtani. He was a pretty good SS before coming to the US and wanted to play there and pitch but the LAA didn’t wanna risk him in the field. You’d be getting a top bat and a top pitcher in 1 guy so I’d offer him the SS job and SP job and he’d probably prefer that over DH and pitching. There will be a lot of teams in on him but he’s the 1 player i’d go to 300+ million on. The revenue he’d bring in would pay him that.

Ohtani is clearing 400 and probably in the 500 range. You're basically paying for 2 players.

Lol how is that happening again?

I mentioned this one couple months ago and everyone pooh poohed then and I expect it will happen again. Need for SS just got more critical 90 minutes ago. A constant playoff team is not going to go to bed all of a sudden. Tigers are not happy with Schoop at 2nd, no matter if Baez recovers or not, he will not make winners of the Tigers. Albies and Ozuna for Baez and lots of money. Maybe less money if Arcia instead of Albies. Either way Ozuna has to be moved. Did you see all these big money deals for a SS? Brewers will probably not be able to resign him or Burns.

If you havent noticed almost all the bloggers have been spouting lately, Rosenthal is even more concerned with his crystal ball. Dan O Dowd said last nite on MLB Tonite he is hearing lots of good things about Soroka. Fried as possible trade chip went around the block here. Yesterday fangraphs guy was talking about trading Acuna (I give no merit to this one YET). AA said TDA wasnt being traded. Two weeks ago he said he had no interest in Murphy. Point is: Cant believe what any one of them says but at the same time the old adage about any player being available for trade still holds.

Point went way over your head as usual. We have no one to trade that can net us anywhere close to Adames and Burnes. Not sure why you’re blathering about Baez. You responded to the wrong post apparently.

I say just go with Grissom and see how he does. You can always add a SS later if needed, or put Arcia in. Most of the other options at this point are either meh or unrealistic.
