Official official offseason thread

Early look at the AAA and AA position players. We can almost field 2 lineups of Lefties and switch hitters. Maybe the shift ban was behind this or just a coincidence. Not sure

Gwinette
C Chadwick Tromp
1B Lewin Diaz (L)
2B Braden Shewmake (L)
SS Hoy Park (L)
3B Cade Bunnell (L)
RF
CF Cody Milligan (L)
LF Ehire Adrianza (S)
DH Drew Lugbauer (L)

Mississippi
C Tyler Tolve (L)
1B Bryson Horne (L)
2B Luke Waddell (L)
SS Cal Conley (S)
3B
RF Jesse Franklin (L)
CF Andrew Moritz (L)
LF Drew Campbell (L)
DH Landon Stephens

The Pirates wanting Grissom as a centerpiece would be pretty silly considering what they have in Cruz. Maybe as a second baseman? They don’t really need a young third baseman either. Also sounds like they want pitching if they trade Reynolds.

The Pirates have another Top 100 guy who also plays SS, so they would probably be looking to fill other positions, especially on the pitching staff.

I did some mental calisthenics the other day trying to figure out what the minor league rosters would look like and they aren't that exciting in AAA and AA. I'm guessing we are going to see a mad rush to fill out the Gwinnett roster with a bunch of AAAA guys. I wouldn't be surprised if Hilliard ends up there depending on how many options he has left. I don't see Bunnell in Gwinnett and Jenista will probably be there.

Same goes somewhat for Mississippi, but we may see some promotions from High-A there throughout the season depending on how some guys progress.

Agreed, AAA and AA are mostly full of backups and UT guys.

Hilliard does not have an option, which I was somewhat surprised by. Luplow does if needed.

Alright boys- hope Santa was good to you!
I think he spiked my cookies with something as I have a bold prediction to make -
If I am wrong, I will agree to wash the windows around here for a year with reduced pay.
If I am right, I get permission to ban Va Brave anytime I want, a free date with Cy’s mom, and Enscheff has to make a dumb and unsubstantiated argument at least once a week.

Says here Grissom has a better season than Dansby - higher batting average, more HRs, more walks, less strikeouts, and more stolen bases.
His defense won’t be as good, obviously.
Oh, and he will cost a hundred and fifty million less … and we will be very, very glad.

Probably just tempering our expectations. If the roster is full, we will not be hanging on every word expecting a new signing. (-;

So I’d assume we are done unless a trade happens?
Braves banking on Ozuna/Rosario and Grissom to hit.
For our sake I hope that happens and Ronnie and Olson have career seasons

We may still be able to make an in season move if things don’t work out. I don’t think Grissom has the bat for of which leaves an infield spot. Except for short those are locked in. There is value to giving him an audition. As to Ozuna and Rosario I’m not holding my breath. If they’re better than replacement level it would be a win. Picking up an outfielder who isn’t a liability at the deadline should be possible though which likely will be an upgrade.

This will mark the 3rd season in a row AA will have to address LF at the deadline. As long as I can remember the Braves have struggled to competently fill LF. It’s always someone crappy or someone playing out of position.

The Braves are not going to be able to dick around and fall 10 games back again and then try to make a move. If the chance is there to upgrade LF/DH now or at the end of spring, do it.

Yea but if we make a substantial trade, we’d likely be losing 2-3 guys from the 40-man. If we signed someone we could DFA the practically pointless Diaz.

Yep, Ronnie Gant has been gone a long time.

It’s crazy how the Braves have struggles to find a LF over the last 20 years. It’s been a revolving door of misfits and retreads, only really good ones have been the HOF franchise icon 3B and fat Upton for a year.

NLDS

While aggravating, it doesn't seem to be hurting the braves all that much

I really dont get going into the season with two starting catchers when you have a need in LF and a DH, but whatever. I guess we cant trade Darnaud because of reasons.

I assume the assumption will be Murphy\TDA will get 60-75% of DHwhen not catching. But I am not sure Twit will do that unless Tromp is on bench. Also I think TDA is going to regress pretty hard this year. Hopefully twit will use him for about 250-350 PA.
