If the Phillies can get one more good starter then should challenge for the division next year. Assuming we don’t get Rendon, AA should move pretty quickly on a 3b after that chip has fallen.

It has to be one of these three or bust for AA: Rendon, Donaldson or Ozuna.

I just read one of their beat writers say they're probably done for the rotation on the Athletic. Nola/Wheeler/Arrieta/Eflin and someone internally. Would guess they look for an outfielder, bench, and bullpen help now.

Nats are still the biggest threat by far.

Not without Rendon. If they get JD then that’s a step backwards. JD at 34 is headed in the wrong direction and will only regress at this point. Whoever signs him will regret it after year 2 if not before bc of injuries.

Yet you keep saying we should keep him.

JD isnt as good as Rendon, obviously but he's about as good of a replacement as you can ask for.

Can’t believe the Angels unloaded their 2019 first-rounder just to move Cozart’s $13m. They better hope they can land one of Cole and Rendon/Donaldson (if not two).

Honestly, if the Braves had the space cash, I wouldn’t have minded seeing Anthopoulos absorb that money, pick up the SS prospect, and have Cozart be a way-overpriced UTIL for one year.

If it’s 3 years then that’s the chance you have to take. I wouldn’t give him the 4th year. If that’s the case then go after Bryant.

With so many teams in on him, i'd be surprised if we had the highest offer. His market is robust. I wouldnt do 4, i'd do 3 if push came to shove.

I don’t know what happened between last year and this year but the spending has been crazy.

He was coming back from Tommy John surgery. He was so so last year, but for a 1 year deal, thats not a bad gamble for Philly.

lol i hope that’s their plan. that back 3 will be baaaaaaaad and there’s still zero depth. and nothing in the BP.

Like the move for the Giants (as well as the Gausman gamble). Makes you wonder if Farhan thinks he can eat some of Longoria's money and market him to one of the teams that needs a 3B. If they could get a halfway decent SP prospect for him they could slide Cozart in at 3B without losing much while continuing to improve their system by moving fringe pieces. They'll really regret not moving MadBum and Smith at the deadline, but adding the Angels' Smith, a 45 FV SP prospect, and a couple picks for Bumgarner and Smith is at least a start. Will Wilson profiles more as a 2B, but they've got Dubon who profiles better at SS. If they can get Longoria and Cozart off their books and pick up a couple solid college SP prospects that can move pretty fast with those draft picks, they'll have boatloads of cash to spend with Buster, Belt, Crawford, Cueto, and Samardzija all coming off by after the 2021 season.

We’ve re-signed Rafael Ortega - there’s our elite utility guy!

Trying to build another elite Gwinnett roster...

Pache, Waters, Riley, Braxton Davidson, Casteel, Ortega, A-Jax, Unroe, and Jack Lopez, with all the arms ought to be pretty good - and pretty fun to watch.

Interesting comment from AA. It reads like he’s laying the ground work for a nothing burger at third, but the trade off is he’s confirming we’ll still get that big bat in the outfield if that’s the case.

Failed offseason if we start the season with Riley or Camargo at 3b. Most of that bullpen money should of been thrown at Rendon imo. Not signing Martin would of been the difference between JD and Rendon.
