Official Offseason Thread

Could be a very savvy move by the Mets, but with their track record on bringing guys back from injury lately.... I don't expect good things.

thinking more of the Bryant scenario, I wonder if the cubs would agree to a deal depending on the outcome of the arbitrator...

For instance: Braves get Kris Bryant ; Cubs get: Inciarte/Riley, Wright, PTBNL or cash.....if he has 2 years of control left, the cubs get another pitcher, if not, they get a small amount of cash

Wright/Wilson + Touki and Ender makes a ton of sense...

That seems pretty reasonable depending who the bat is. Riley, Waters, Pache, or Ender. Would prefer to move Riley in said scenario, pitching wise we have alot to give them. Matchup pretty well with the Cubs if the asking price is reasonable, aka not like Anderson, Waters, and Pache.

Bryant for 2 years or Donaldson for 4? I hate trading prospects but I take Bryant in that scenario.

It depends on the prospects. If it was Riley plus Wright, then Bryant. If its Pache and Anderson, then I'd take Donaldson. It also depends on how we'd be able to structure a Donaldson deal. I think there is a way to give Donaldson 4 years and it still be palatable for the team if its structured smartly.

If we can keep 2 of Waters/Anderson/Pache, then Bryant, dont think it would cost 2 of them. Maybe/probably one, if AA got him while keeping all 3, that would be insane.

If it’s Pache or Anderson then AA says no thanks. He won’t sacrifice the long term future for 2 years. If we got Bryant and make the playoffs and he has a good year then I call Boras and try to talk extension. I doubt he would with only a year to FA but I’d try.

I know I’m the low man around here on Anderson, but for me the only prospect off limits for 2 years of Bryant would be Pache. Of course, if Waters or Anderson goes to Chicago they wouldn’t be getting much else.If their goal is to get 3 MLB ready parts for Bryant so they can reload quickly, a package of Riley/Touki/Wilson would be pretty hard for any other team to top. Wilson is probably just a bulk innings guy, but Touki still has real upside.
I'm probably as low on Anderson as you.I've watched some film of him and it seems his stuff is just overpowering lower level guys, not him being a dominant pitcher. And with his low spin rates that isn't promising either.

His reverse splits suggest he is a fastball/change guy experiencing success against hitters who aren’t used to dealing with good changeups.

I’m still skeptical his shockingly bad spin rates are accurate, but if they are I can’t think of a pitcher who succeeded without a legit breaking ball.

If we're moving Anderson in a package, i'd want some control coming back, at least more than 2 years for a player that's not likely to re-sign. I guess it depends if AA and co dont believe in his spin rate.

A Riley/Touki/Wilson package would be pretty good for us, but i think they'd want at least one of Waters/Anderson/Wright coming back at the very least, who knows though. Pache is most likely off limits.

DOB: Anthopoulos said #Braves have had several productive conversations but aren't close to doing anything. He doesn't expect to make a move before they leave Winter Meetings barring a sudden change. Also will have a very high bar to take anyone in Rule 5 w/ roster currently at 38.

If we use Waters and Anderson in a trade, then I would try to go after Happ as well, even if it meant adding another piece to even out the value.

Well this sounds boring.

Not surprising tbh.
