We're apparently doing our due diligence on Ryu as well.

1. Where is all of this money coming from?
2. Umm unless we trade for Simba and let him play a 3rd/ss hybrid position, how are we going to have money to pay a 3rd baseman?
Sigh if we invest in more pitching then I’m afraid we’re going to have an anemic offense this year.
Rosenthal says Donaldson has multiple four-year offers and could get more than $100 million.
Can't imagine we're willing to swim in those depths.
I've come up with a 4 step plan that lands us Arenado, Ozuna and Lindor. Someone help me. Here's how it works.
Step 1: Braves have big payroll increase
Step 2: Arenado for Riley and cash
Step 3: Sign Ozuna
Step 4: Trade Waters (available in trade thanks to step 3), Swanson and arms for Lindor.
I'm sure it's not news to AA if he's got offers going four years with AAV of $22.5-25M. I'm going to hope we match until we don't. Cautious optimism.
But you have to remember, we forfeit our 2nd round pick by signing Will Smith, and if we lose JD we gain a pick after Comp Round B, so we will drop down from roughly pick 63 to pick 68-69. So it’s not an even swap. Had we not signed Smith we wouldn’t have dropped those spots.
And if we sign Ozuna, we then lose our 3rd rounder (not our 4th)

We get the Smith pick back when Donaldson signs elsewhere. We would only lose the pick for Ozuna is the point.

O'Flaherty recently said something on DOBs podcast along the lines of Freeman sees himself as a Brave for his entire career and will be team friendly to make it happen.
I always look at those statements skeptically, and even if he is willing the Braves might not be if someone like Ball is rocking a 1.200 OPS in Gwinnett when Freeman's contract is up.
Indians asking for clubs best offer for Lindor.
I'd like to see the Braves offer Swanson plus Waters plus one of Wright/Wilson/Muller. See what happens.
Lol what did he do now?
This a poor analysis of the situation.
We don't get that pick back at all. When we offered JD a QO, we essentially gained an extra pick (though not guranteed). When we signed Smith, we lost a guaranteed pick. We don't "get the pick back" if JD signs elsewhere. It's still a net loss of 1 pick. If we sign JD as well, that's a net loss of 2 picks.
I don’t see 2 big trades so it’s either Bryant or Lindor imo. Bryant fills a bigger need but if the Twins are more willing to make a trade then I hope we make a strong offer. I don’t see JD going to Minnesota but I can Washington. They could make him a 4 year offer with a 5th year option with a big buyout like 5-7 million then I think he’s gone. AA doesn’t want to go to 4 years but if he sees the trade market to difficult then maybe he blinks and offers the 4th year.
