We have room in the payroll for a JD type of salary, it’s the years that AA wasn’t comfortable with. AA knows he needs a cleanup hitter so I expect something soon now that JD is off the market.

If Bowman reports that our focus has moved to the OF, that makes me think 3B is still the primary target. AA seems to feed Bowman basically opposite information.

I’d think so. AA wanted JD back and supposedly offered 4 years and at least 20 per year. Wouldn’t you say we have enough?

Objectively our best option is Seager and Haniger. Kills two birds with one stone.

Signing an OF seems tough. Basically would push Markakis and Duvall to bench roles immediately. Signing Markakis so early seems even weirder now.

But even long term, if they believe in Pache and waters, then signing an OF just complicates things in the long term.

I've been sorta anti-Haniger/Seager trade, but at this point that may be the best realistic option if the money can be sorted out properly.

Nah, as a team that’s essentially a contender, you get the bats and figure it out from there if Waters and Pache prove to be ready.
