Official Playoff Thread

Would make for an interesting argument that in the first year of this new playoff formats, the teams that had the extended rest were knocked out.

I know the guys need the rest but that’s to long of a lay off. The way we had to claw and fight for the division I’d have rather kept the guys playing rather than sitting for a week. Regardless of our pitching if our hitting doesn’t pickup it won’t matter. Riley and Swanson have been terrible.

That would make it worse for me. We would've had home field in nlcs

If we're going to be having to deal with getting our asses handed to us by our little brothers in the division, at least the Dodgers will have theirs handed to them by the team they've dominated in recent years. Plus, all that money spent, 110 wins, their lust for a title over the last decade and they only have the one from the Covid year. It would be pretty funny. Plus, if this postseason ends without the Dodgers, Yankees, or Mets winning one series between them, it'd be awesome, and our early exit will be an after-thought. Add the Cardinals in, and it's hilarious.

I mean wouldn’t the Padres technically fill that big market void? They did literally upgrade to an all star team at the break.

If we can pull it out against the Phillies and the Padres I like our chances to make it to the WS. They have a good team but us having home field advantage is huge. I’d rather face them than the Dodgers. If the Dodgers lose I expect them to spend even more in the offseason. They’ll be in on deGrom, Rodon, Turner, and Diaz with their bullpen like it is.

Contreras is in the lineup batting 7th.

Rather see him higher but I don’t have an issue with the lineup. I’m done with Ozuna. I at least have faint hopes Rosario can Babip his way into something. Ozuna is toast and I look forward to the day that he’s no longer part of the organization.

Pretty sure AA and the analytics crew do the lineups/rotation/bullpen decisions in the playoffs.

Some fans were remarking that Roberts showed no hesitation in lifting Gonsolin early last night and comparing that to Snitker not lifting Strider sooner. I'm not defending Snitker because he did leave Strider hanging when it was obvious he was losing steam, but Roberts could go to Heaney as his bridge guy and he's better by far than what our options are. I suppose a case can be made that Strider should have been pulled after two and then just made it into a bullpen game with Odrorizzi taking over and hopefully getting us to the fifth, but I can only imagine the howls that move would have caused. Strider's injury complicated roster construction to some extent. One can never tell with an injury, but if they were concerned that 40 pitches might be the limit for Strider, they probably should have had Elder on the roster instead of Chavez.
