Official Playoff Thread

I actually think padres better matchup for dodgers right now.

Three really nasty pitchers, couple big time bats. Mets seem to be on fumes, offense feels like it’s ran out of luck and their big horses seem to be fading at the wrong time

I hope they do. Keep raking up those 300 million contracts and watch how fast they sink.

I have to wonder who deGrom will be pitching for next season. The Mets certainly have the cash but will he want to stay, who will offer him the most, etc? Should be one of the most interesting plots of the upcoming offseason.

Pretty funny that in 2 straight weeks the Mets had deGrom Scherzer and Bassitt on the mound when it mattered and couldn’t get it done

$75M for Scherzer and deGrom….woof

The Mets were literally built for the regular season AND the playoffs and failed at both. Big changes coming next year since they have so many free agents.

The Mets announced tonight wasn’t a sellout… in a winner-take-all playoff series finale. Lmao

Remember when Braves fans used to get mocked for not selling out playoffs games. At least they were in the playoffs every season. What excuse do Mets fans have?

I mean what can they really do? Probably have Nido/Alvarez at C, Alonso at 1B, McNeil for 2nd, Lindor for SS, Baty/Escobar at 3B, Marte at RF, need a CF'er and DH. Outside of Judge, there's not a ton of impact bats. Biggest problem is their pitching FA's. Bassit, DeGrom, Walker, Diaz, Lugo, May all FA's. They'll have to commit alot of money just to bring back players they already had. They have alot of guys in arbitration as well.

Padres were pretty bad vs them this year. They are playing well right now though.

Anyone lurked on any Mets boards tonight? How they taking it?

The Mets fanbase is an interesting combination of NY mouthiness/bravado on one hand and fatalism on the other. You have to remember that this is a team that in 2000, watched Armando Benitez choke in the first game of a Yankees sweep; in 2006 they watched a WS berth (and probable win) disappear on Carlos Beltran's stationary bat, lost a record seven game lead with 17 to play in 2007, and followed that up by losing a 3.5 game lead with 17 to go in 2008. They then just needed one win in a three game series against Atlanta this year but couldn't do it.

Much like the Red Sox curse of the Bambino, the Mets are now being paid back by the curse of Bill Bucknner.

Yeah the Mets are gonna have a rough and interesting offseason. They’ll have to spend a ton just to keep the team as is. I could see them going after Judge and letting deGrom walk.
