Offseason Hot Stove 2024-25 Thread

Is Baldwin plus worth one year of anyone outside of a top 10 in the league player?

Soto went for this, for 1 year. Best player here is King. Baldwin, AJJS, and some other lower tier players would get Tucker. Not that i'd do that deal w/o an extension.

Rosenthal says Yankees, Mets, others interested in Crochet. Behind a paywall, so idk who else is involved. But most Braves stuff doesnt get leaked, but i have some concerns with Crochet lasting long-term. Would imagine the price is crazy if the White Sox turned down a 60 and 50FV from the Padres.

I read that as the Padres turned down the offer.

The White Sox may got full Detroit Tigers a few years ago and hold onto him to long and tank his value.

Love Crochet but if we gave up our biggest prospect I’d want it to be in a deal for a position player like Tucker.

I think they move him. I'd make a play for Luis Robert, would be a little risky since he's kinda like some of our other hitters but if the price is non-Baldwin, i'd do it.

Can't say for sure. But right now is the peak of Crochet's trade value. He had virtually none coming into the season.

They should sell high for sure. They held him at the deadline so that gives me some pause that they are competent. Surprised the Pads haven’t extended Cease. I really wanted Cease.

Bowman posted his latest less-than-factual opinion piece where he says that the Braves are more actively shopping for an outfielder than a pitcher. He also speculates that the reasoning behind this might be that Morton on a one-year deal could be considered more valuable than Eovaldi on a two- or three-year contract.

Charlie and luplow getting more and more likely. My joke is becoming a cruel reality

Astros GM said he would listen on Kyle Tucker. Now there is a game changer for the OF.

I conjectured about Tucker a couple of months ago. Braves would have to get an extension, but even without an extension, send them Kelenic and a couple of our pitching prospects.

P.S. Saw the Padres' Soto deal posted. Braves could do something similar without including Baldwin. Tucker is good, but he's not Soto-level good. Kelenic, Smith-Shawver, and someone in the Braun/Burkholder/Lara strata could get it done. With the Soto situation put to bed, interest surrounding Tucker and Bellinger will heat up. Maybe I am misreading the whole situation.

I feel like Byron Buxton could be someone we're looking at. He's is simply not a CFer anymore and I would venture that the Twins would love to move on from that contract at this point. 4/60 (with performance bonuses) is something we could probably absorb fairly easily. And we could potentially move him to DH starting in 2026 if needed to keep him healthy. Maybe we get the Twins to kick in some cash over the first couple of years.

This would be a pretty simple way to improve the OF without having to give up much prospect capital.
