Offseason Hot Stove 2024-25 Thread

AA is catching so much crap right now from pretty much every media outlet saying he's failed and has had the worst offseason in his tenure and is on the hot seat. I know he'll do something but sometimes you have to overpay to get the piece you need and quit being so arrogant. One of Minter or Scott should be on this team right now. Sucks to see the offseason waste away.

This is the easy answer.

This is the easy answer.

Been saying for awhile at some point he's gotta go past his confort zone for someone. He's way better at trades than the FA market though. Not keeping Minter for that price hurts. Hope he makes a few moves before the season though, just for my sanity lol.

5/90+ for Santander. Not that bad, the years could be bad on the backend. I could see them overpay for Alonso as well like Blue said.

Would the offseason be a success if they sign Profar, Kim, and Scherzer, and trade with the Twins for Lopez+? And maybe switch AJSS and Waldrep to the bullpen?

That would be a resounding success, yes. Lmao that's definitely not happening. They don't need Scherzer and Lopez, though. At that rate, just use Scherzer's money for a relief arm.

What’s likely to happen is AA will sign whichever SP is left over and willing to take a 1 year deal. As for the outfield bat, likely the same. We’re not spending significantly on anyone. AA just won’t invest years and money into any major free agents.

That's right. He normally makes his big splash on the trade market. The issue is the trade market is dry as hell. If he can't do it there, he absolutely has to change his approach, but it seems he's unwilling to do so, and potentially to the detriment of the team.

Five years is brutal, but I get why they went overboard to get someone lol I'm guessing they sign Alonso now

Santander was a guy who I thought would be left standing at the beginning of spring training. I see five years for him as a huge mistake on the part of the Blue Jays.

I'm still thinking Jordan Montgomery is in play. One year at $22.5 MM. We send the Diamondbacks a mid-level prospect or two and they kick in $5 MM on salary.

Flaherty would be the other guy on the radar in my estimation.

And that's his downfall. Spend the money and keep your trade assets. I wish he was more willing to go past his comfort zone of some of these guys bc like I said, one of Minter or Scott should be a Brave right now. Hopefully Flahtery is the odd man out and we can get him on a 1-2 year deal.

They got desperate bc they've been shunned by everybody so far. They was a big over pay in years. I could see them getting Alonso and then sliding him over to 1b next year when Vlad leaves.

Assuming the Dodgers have no room for him, would anyone be opposed to giving Kershaw a one year deal? I've seen Scherzer's name thrown around. Clayton will be 37 this season.

Does he still have anything left in the tank? I don't think he's exercised his player option yet. If he doesn't go back to LAD, he probably would just try to pitch closer to home probably for the Rangers.
