Olivera traded for Kemp

So how it breaks down year by year:

Net salary additions

17: +8.5

18: +8

19: +7

20: -8.5

22:-1

I actually like how this works out. We pay the most on the front end when we will hypothetically suck the most and have cheap young players and then pay less the following 2 years then have an extra 8.5 to spend in 2020 that we wouldn't have without this trade.

So it's as above or:

17:+ 12

18:+ 11.5

19:+10.5

Same for 2020

Considering Braves get $10.5 from #Padres to offset Kemp's $64.5M deal,and subtract Olivera's $28.5M, #Braves paying 8.5M per year for Kemp

So to put a positive spin on it, we are effectively paying him $6m in 2016 and then have him signed to a 3 / $25.5m deal from 2017 thru 2019.

I for one am excited to see Kemp in a Braves uniform. He was one of my favorite players for a couple years and has given my fantasy team some nice power for a late round pick.

Olivera released... Lol

Basically the spells the end of Inciarte or Markakis in Atlanta by next year. I can't imagine Mallex being buried after how awesome he was this year.

Here is the deal, we have the money. We dropped a $hit bag/black eye for the team that was never going to sniff an MLB fIeld in a braves uniform. And got a contributor to the team in return. Eff the money, it's not hurting us. Win

It's an overpay in my book, but not disastrously so. It probably has about the same amount of dead money as your average FA deal in that range.

Yeah. Overpay given we are only getting the 10.5 the Dodgers will be paying.

No rush to trade either of them by Thursday. Nick can be traded all the way up to the end of the regular season. He would pass through waivers easily.
