Olivera traded for Kemp

So Tuesday's lineup will (hopefully) be:

2B- Jace, CF- Inciarte, 1B- Freeman, LF- Kemp, RF- Markakis, 3B- Garcia, C- Pierzynski, SS- Aybar

Hate to be funny, but that would be the best lineup we've run out there in two years. Seriously hope to see EOF, Johnson, and Beckham gone (whether traded or released), and wouldn't care to see Aybar cast aside even if that means playing d'Arnaud and Castro at SS until September call-ups.
 
Defensive metrics for outfielders playing at least 1000 innings between 2015 and 2016:

Matt Kemp ranks 90th out of 90 in UZR / 150
Matt Kemp ranks 87th out of 90 in DRS

I'm actually kind of curious to see what this will look like day to day.
 
This is a bet that Kemp bounces back some. It's not a bad bet. His BABIP is probably 25 points below where it should be. So there's a good argument that he should have an .800 OPS.

Also, getting out of San Diego could give him a bump.

I'd like to see his BB rebound some and if that happens then he's a steal.

Ultimately I don't think money is quite as big an issue at the moment. We can afford a risk like this.
 
Love the trade. Loved it more when I thought we were paying $14m per year instead of $18m, but the Braves just added a power bat to the middle of the lineup for someone that will never play in Atlanta and was dead money.

Now copy needs to go trade markakis, Johnson, frenchy, krol, beckham, aybar, Adonis, Viz and TEHERAN.

I just don't understand how someone that athletic can be that bad in the field... I'm sure he's below average but I still fail to put stock in defensive metrics... Still don't think we have found a good way to truly evaluate defense yet

With money from Padres, doesn't it work out about 14m for the next three years?
 
I don't love it. But he could be a guy that has some value down the road.

I could see an al club wanting him in 17 or 18 if he gets better luck and we pay half or more. So I don't think he blocks anyone.

Lf is a black hole since klesko? Gant?

Dump markakis. Mallex in cf and inciarte in rf. Jace/kemp in lf could be a platoon

If Reddick gets traded he can't get get compensation attached. If that is the case and u can get him for a 2-3 yr deal you move one of inciarte mallex.
