Ozzie Albies thread

He's hitting in front of Freeman. It would be a criminal offense to walk him. Albies will establish himself more and get some respect and walk. Right now the pitchers are challenging him.

Wrong. Again.

Albies is seeing strikes at the MLB average rate.

Albies has an even better hit tool than I expected. And his defense and base running are exciting to see. What remains is maturity. Will he mature as a hitter. Will he learn to be a better risk taker. Will he tone down the flash in favor of effectiveness.

This 1000x over. His talent is undeniable at this, but so is the immaturity. He has made a few mental mistakes that are just a product of being young. But if he matures quickly and starts making better decisions at the plate, on the basepaths, and on the field, he could be an absolute monster.

If the only thing we have to hammer on is maturity the Braves are in good shape. He's made aggressive mistakes but I'd want him to continue being aggressive. The maturity will come. I've said it before...he has fun playing and has an edge that we've needed in Atlanta for a long time. That suit and tie thing had its place but I love his edge. Case in point...the last game he got buzzed and promptly singled up the middle with a look of "take that." We should all be pretty content with Ozzie...now about that Arodys guy....

I love the aggressiveness, but it does need to be reigned in a bit. He has proven he has a godly hit tool. Now it'd be great if he could prove he could lay off bad pitches and pick his spots a tad better. He has proven he can make things happen on the basepaths. Now he needs to prove he has more situational awareness. This will be what takes him from being a really good player to being an all out superstar.

Ozzie may prove to be the pound-for-pound best bat in the majors.

Forget Trout, Altuve, Harper, Machado, Judge, Lindor, Stanton, Sanchez, Arenado, Goldschmidt, Bryant, Rizzo, Cespedes, Donaldson, Ohtani, Pujols, Cruz, Cano, Gallo, Odor, Beltre, Davis, Jones, Schoop, Benintendi, Bregman, Correa, Ozuna, Yelich, Polanco, Seager, Bellinger, McCutchen, Mauer, Posey, or Wil Myers.

Forget em all.

None are as small, and none are as mighty.

Ozzie will be to Curacao what the Dimaggio brothers were to the island of Sicily.

If you’ve ever been to Curaçao..the kids all wear Andruw Jones gear.... I bet that is changing in a hurry..

Okay, forgetting about the awful ending to today's game... How about Ozzie and Dansby? They have been killing the ball lately. I've always been 100% on the Ozzie train, but was admittedly skeptical of Dansby. But every multi-hit game that goes by has me believing in him more and more. Could both of these guys end up being the 4ish WAR players that we were all dreaming about prior to their arrival in Atlanta?

I think we have our 1-4 hitters in place once acuna is up...

1. Albies
2. Swanson
3. FF
4. Acuna

If they both finish the year strong like they’ve started it then Atlanta becomes a lot more attractive to FA’s.

SSS on this season, but with Albies, considering what all he can do, it might be say hello to the Braves version of your Betts/Lindorian like star.

Swanson is more "steady", but he could be early career Markakis like, with less power/fewer walks/more Ks.

I like Albies in the leadoff spot. I have no idea what his power ceiling is anymore. Just going by the projections he should get to 20 homers. Really hard for me to believe he could hit 30. He would be a damn good player with just 15

If Swanson can hit like the young version of Neck, and continue to play above average defense, he'll be at least a 4 win player. I wouldn't call that a probable outcome by any means, but the odds look a whole lot better than they did a few months ago.

The Braves are due for something to go in their favor. Maybe Swanson and Albies living up to their potential will be part of that.

Maybe a tiny bit of concern for Ozzie, his splits right now are quite extreme.

vs. RHP (48 PA) .208/.240/.438 81 wRC+ 10-for-48, 3 2B, 1 3B, 2 HR

vs. LHP (16 PA) .625/.625/1.500 487 wRC+ 10-for-16, 5 2B, 3 HR

Obviously SSS, but this does kinda point to what we already knew. Ozzie is an absolute animal vs. LHP but might have some things to work on when hitting left handed.
