Ozzie debut tonight

For those who think we shouldn't call up Albies. What about after AAA season is over? Just leave him off the roster?

ozzie coming up is clearly a mistake and one the Braves will continue to make going forward as I said earlier. Started with Swanson and they will continue to not maximize our prospects service time which will hurt us down the road. It's laughable how bad this team is at it.

While it may be a mistake,he's more than ready. More than Dansby was.

Yes. The Cubs did it with Bryant after he finished destroying AA and AAA as a 22 year old. It's pretty common these days.

Total speculation, but there's a chance BP was excersising his rights to a no trade and the FO is showing him option B riding the bench.

Actually a former Expos scout that is still well connected because he does some scouting for the Yankees. This is the post:

That could be a scout's opinion. It's not a consensus.

Dansby was a consensus top 10 prospect. He's a number 1 pick and those have done well in the modern era. That is recency bias.

I compared him to Blauser and that was not popular. That's what I think he his. Too much swing and miss for me, esp on fastballs. I think he can handle SS fine...error scouting is stupid. I think he'll settle in to a 2 win guy and he'll occasionally luck his way into a big season or two.

and the Braves have said they will call guys up when they feel they're ready. Just a different philosophy.

Albies was going to be our starting 2B to open next season so this really makes no difference.

For better or worse I think the Braves are assuming they can extend these guys. Albies and Acuna were low money international signs so most think we have a better shot of getting them to buy out some FA years for more upfront cash and security.

that would be really crappy of them. plus i don't think he has a NTC.

He does have a NTC.. maybe not full but he has one. He's supposed to get a 500K bonus I believe if he is traded. I doubt that's a reason we didn't trade him though.

2B is an easy position to fill. Throw in a NTC and only dealing with a handful of contenders and it's very tough.

Interestingly enough I though Cleveland could be a good fit and that would put him back in OH

Everything I read said he had a NTC for being a 10/5 guy. That went away when he was traded. Could be something else though.

I agree they have a different philosophy and I disagree with it. To me it's just not smart for a mid market team to operate this way.

I hear you. I'm hoping they have a plan to keep these guys around. I do wonder how conscious they are of staggering guys, too. You don't want to call up 3-4 young, highly-ranked guys all in one season, right?

They could achieve same by giving Sean Rodriguez 10 straight games at second.
