Pache trade

The more I think about it...the more I believe Pache could very well be traded at the deadline (or at least offered in the right deal). I think they played him sparingly because they didn’t want to risk him getting hurt before the trade deadline. They wanted to showcase him in the field, but NOT his bat.

We have Waters and Harris right behind Pache (They BOTH grew up Braves fans...think about that). Pache’s value is at a all time high. We desperately need a difference maker in the rotation.

I hope you guys aren’t counting on having Pache on this team, because I have a bad...bad feeling that there is a real possibility he will be gone at the deadline. I’m not a fan of that personally, but it’s the only thing that adds up with the way he has been handled.

This is a dubious leap in logic...and the "fact" some prospects are Braves fans is a factor in any way is silliness.

The absolute worst case scenario for the Braves with Pache was that he got injured in these few games, and wasted an entire year sitting on the MLB DL. They avoided this by using him sparingly, and he probably isn't ready to contribute offensively anyways.

The Braves burned a little service clock to backup CF, and can easily keep him down in 2021 for a month to delay his clock more. Pache seems to me to be clearly above Waters by a good margin, so I'm not sure why folks think Waters' presence makes Pache at all expendable. He is almost certainly the future in CF, pushing Ender into a 4th OFer role as soon as 2021.

AA hasn't cashed in a single notable prospect yet, so it would be odd to think now is the time jut because a young guy didn't see many PAs in the few games he was up. More likely he will cash in controllable arms like Touki and Wright and Wilson for short term MLB pitching like Bundy or several other names folks have already mentioned.

Pache has followed Andruw around like a little lost puppy for two years and was quoted as saying he wants to wear #25 and play CF for the Braves because that's what Andruw did - you honestly think Waters and Harris are somehow "bigger" Braves fans than he is???

I absolutely hope I’m wrong. I love Pache. Time will tell. I think they aren’t sold on Pache’s offense and are going to cash in. There is a disconnect even with Snitker. We shall see.

#Braves won't announce Tuesday night's starter until ... Tuesday. Had said it would be announced today, but that's changed for whatever reason.

Feel free to speculate. Could be a trade being made to open a spot on 40-man roster for Ian Anderson. But that's just a guess. Might even be a trade for a starter, though it was thought that wouldn't happen for at least a few more days. But in this season? All bets are off.

Not playing for two days constitutes a "disconnect"? *amn Snitker must absolutely HATE Culberson.

Nah, it’s like they didn’t even want the fans to connect with him to me. The exact opposite with other high prospects brought up. I think it’s because he’s already been in trade discussions.

Think about it. They don’t even know if Cole comes back This year, they don’t know if they have Soroka to begin the year. They can’t give up Anderson (the only prospect that seems to have a chance to maybe make a difference as a starter). Who does that leave? Pache.

Enscheff is so spot on here. Watched them both at every stop in the system. I have stated several times that Pache is better (at this stage) than Waters - arguably. I highly doubt they trade Pache without a controllable high value return. Good to speculate but I'm hoping Pache is not available.

That’s just the point....it WILL be in a package for a controllable high value pitcher. It sets them up for next year Soroka/Fried/Trade/Anderson/whoever is left.

Yes, they love Pache...no they don’t want to trade him. He is simply their greatest trade chip and comes from an area they can absorb the loss. Of course they regard him higher than Waters, but they can have a controllable starting pitcher (to which we have one of right now and one injured), AND still have some really good options.

Would they have even considered trading Pache at the beginning of the year...absolutely not. Did they know they would have ONE pitcher they could count on four weeks into the season??...not in their worst case scenario.

I thought AA would make small trades and basically go with what we had. Now, I think AA’s first large trade has a good chance to happen this week. Anderson will not be part of it. Because our pitching prospects have failed so miserably...Anderson simply can’t be part of it.

Maybe.
Pache seems to have everyone grading him out as a 70 cf. however his offense is almost all projected.

I’m sure we are looking at controllable stars.

Aa does seem to value defense. He values acuna. So I don’t think he wants acuna playing cf for long stretches of time.

I like waters a lot. I know some don’t. I’m aware the babip is high and the strikeouts are high as well. But he seems to cause a lot of damage when he makes contact and he makes a lot of contact. He looks to be a plus corner of or an avg cf. hes really young. Pache is too but pache has more pro experience.

I want to keep them both.

Teams are going to cheap out hard with COVID. If they can spend some money I bet they can get a ton of talent for not much.

I'm curious who is on your list of controllable high value pitchers that would even be available to us in a trade.

Find all the pitchers who last threw 3-4 days ago, and that’s your list of trade candidates.

Either that or think about all the Braves options for Tuesday not named Anderson, and those are the possible guys going the other way.

Hoping to see Ian tomorrow night!

Cleveland lines up well with us. Really who knows...AA will have targets(some we likely wouldn’t have a clue about) . If Pache is indeed available...that would open up some options. I feel we go that route, because I don’t think Liberty would be willing to absorb a lot of money (which would be the easiest way).

Buster just tweeted every dollar counts.

Aa should spend all his time getting his bosses to spend money. I swear we can get talent for nothing if you will take on salary

Here is my fantasy with Cleveland. Flowers and Duvall for Clevenger OR Plesac. If they have really pissed the clubhouse then throw in Pache and get both

get both back in return.

There aren't a lot of "trade Pache" scenarios that would leave me thrilled, but getting both Clevinger and Plesac for a package centered around Pache would likely qualify as one of them. And, as bad as their OFs have been (Jeff Passan's article today noted that "[o]ver 334 plate appearances this season, [their] outfielders are hitting a collective .166/.273/.249"), Pache might very well represent an upgrade ... on offense.

Nevertheless, I think such a deal is <LD>prettty pretty pretttty</LD> damn unlikely.

This trade idea was just suggested by the same guy who suggested Riley May pan out because Josh Donaldson was a launch angle late bloomer.

Both posts are of equal quality.

Man, I sure hope I never get so engrossed in my pontifications as you. I may start believing I can take Brian Kenney's job. But then you would be worshiping at my feet and I dont want to put up with you in person.

I think something that’s not being considered here is do you want 2 guys that have blatantly broken coronavirus protocols on your team anyway? A Marlins or Cardinals situation would more than wipe out the value they’d bring with their arms. And that’s even before considering you’d be sending our top prospect the other way.
