Payroll

Who was it on here that posted the other day they could see this happening with the new stadium and payroll being lowered.

It does seem to make an awful lot of sense given all that has transpired recently, especially considering Liberty's share reclassification and the team's curious payroll flaying.

If true, I wonder if the buyer is somehow attached to Cox Communications (Jim Kennedy?)

There are a lot of little warning signs that signal a possible share and Cox Communications seems like they would fit the criterion.

Would be awkward considering the Braves signed a huge deal with Comcast for the new stadium... and Cox would be the new owner.

I have no clue about Cox communications. Would that be bad?

For those that don't know, Cox Enterprises owns WSB (TV and Radio in Atlanta) as well as the AJC, Kelly Blue Book, Autotrader, and is a big time cable provider.

Ann Cox Chambers is the current owner and is the richest person in Georgia (though in her 90s). James Kennedy is the current chairman and is the second richest person in Georgia.

Kennedy has, as far as I know, never shown the slightest interest in professional sports. I could be wrong but I've never heard of it. However, the Braves would be a nice source of programming on their broadcast outlets and gel nicely with other Cox business.

That being said, it would surprise me if Cox Enterprises bought the Braves.

James Kennedy

Ladies and gentleman, your future owner of the Atlanta Braves:
