Longoria just turned 29, and his contract is complex. Here are the numbers.
 $11M
 $11.5M
 $13M
 $13.5M
 $14.5M
 $15M
 $18.5M
 $19.5M
 $13M club option ($5M buyout)
Assuming the 2023 option was declined, this contract takes him through his age 36 season. I don't know that we want to be saddled with that kind of deal UNLESS we are assuming that he is the next Chipper Jones. He has averaged nearly 148 games played per year (if you don't count an injury-plagued 2012 campaign), and he is definitely a star. But can we tie that much money up in one player? If we were to acquire Longoria (and I personally doubt we will) we would be making a statement which said, "We are pinning the next 8 years or so on Freddie Freeman and Evan Longoria."
