Playing in David Price's charity golf event tomorrow

Bye Week

Arizona Fall Leaguer
I will be playing in David Price's charity golf scramble tomorrow here in Murfreesboro.

My foresome is myself, David Price, Sonny Gray and Brennan King(my brother). Those are the three best baseball players to ever come out of this county. My brother was two time Gatorade POY in Tenn and was the 69th overall pick by the Dodgers. He never made it to the bigs.

Anyways, do you guys have any questions you want me to ask David about playing for the Braves next year?

Yeah. Brennan signed with my Mississippi State Bulldogs, but we lost him to the draft.

I dont think asking him about playing for the Braves next year does much, not like he's a FA.

That's pretty cool RHT. Ask him if he were traded to the Brves would he be willing to sign an extension or does he wanna test FA.

Some teams will give the players a heads up on their plans out of respect and atleast ask them where they would prefer to go. Not that it has much impact on where he would go but if they liked deals from two teams equally it could help them make their decision. The only relevant question in my opinion is if he would sign a less than market value deal with the Braves if traded to them. Hudson said being a Brave was worth a 25% discount and even then it was hard to get a deal done when he was traded to the Braves.

Did Price grow up a Bravos fan?

Ask him who he idolized on the Braves growing up. Also tell him, "David, if you were our Game 1 starter, we probably are playing in the World Series now. You are one of the only guys that could go tit for tit with Kershaw". Also tell him, that the users on ChopCountry.com are begging for our General Manager to trade for him and sign him long term. Tell him that the site owner has even agreed to trade the website to the Rays if it would put the deal over the hump. :Alone:

It was a joke my man.

Price and Gray both grew up Brave fans and would love to play in the south if the opportunity presented itself. All their families still live here and its about a 3 hour drive to Turner. It is by far the closest team we have in this area. Price has openly talked about growing up a Braves fan a few times.

KB, BK did commit to MSU but just got taken too high by the Dodgers. He couldn't turn it down. He has since graduated from MTSU in 3 years and his coaching and teaching. He also runs a baseball school here in town.

Place a wager on the game, if he wins you're his man servant, if you win he has to sign a well below average contract with the braves for 5 years.

If I remember correctly, BK would have been a part of Pat McMahon's first recruiting class at MSU. We had some down years at MSU, but John Cohen coming back home has this program back on top. We have a kid that is a freshman this year from just northwest of Chatanooga named Dakota Hudson. Tall, lanky righty is throwing 94-95 consistently off the mound this fall. He may make an impact as a freshman this year.

How filthy was Vandy's rotation when they had Price and Minor in 2007?

If Atlanta could land Price, I'd be willing to start an offer with a package of Evan Gattis and Alex Wood. It's going to take both of them to get a deal done.

In my not so humble opinion, Wood and Gattis would be a huge overpay for Price. It would be similar to the overpay for Shields, maybe worse.

I think it all depends upon if you think Alex Wood is going to be a Chris Sale type/top of the rotation guy. I really like what I have seen in him.

David Price is a legitimate ace pitcher though.

No doubt Price is an elite pitcher. He is also getting expensive in terms of salary and we would only have two years of contractual control over him. With Wood we have six more years of contractual control and with Gattis five more, including their remain pre-arb years.

We had a blast. Shot -14 in the scramble and came in 2nd place. Price can smash a golf ball and Gray is good at everything he does. He was all-state QB and won 2 state titles as well.

Price did say he didn't feel like he would be in TB next season but hasn't been told anything by the FO. I didn't bother him with a lot of questions either. He said he would like to stay in a warm weather city but knows he has no control over it right now. Just an extremely polite young man that his head on straight.

We raised over $10K for his charity today and he signed balls all day long and took pictures all day as well. The Braves would be lucky to have a player and person like David Price.
