PUIG TO THE BRAVES

ankle injury

Certainly makes one wonder if there isn't more to it than they're saying so far.

If this is some signal that AA's going to be allowed to spend money judiciously right now rather than trying to hold some back for the trading deadline, why not keep going and add Zobrist and Aaron Sanchez?

Zobrist has been very bad 2 of the last 3 years. He doesn't fill any kind of role for the Braves.

Sanchez has had a FIP of 5.74, 4.74, and 5.25 the last 3 seasons. I'd rather go with someone on the farm then have him on the team.

And for the record this is in response to Neck opting out and not a Pache injury despite anything Heyman says. IMO there was zero change Pache started the year in Atlanta.

Simply inexpensive and experienced depth options to keep from starting clocks. The 7 game deal would certainly help alleviate that though - Waters or Ball could provide an additional LH bat in a pinch once that's covered.

Don't think anyone can possibly have enough depth in what's going to be a really odd next two months.

I know. Utilizing a platoon advantage is gross.

Other than a select few folks around here, I don't think many mind using a platoon - I was perfectly fine with Markakis/Duval in LF and Ozuna DHing every day, I think it would have made us better pre-Puig.

The problem would have been believing that there was a legitimate chance that Snitker would have executed it at all (much less correctly).

Yeah but depth for the sake of depth isn't really a good idea imo. At this point Zobrist and Sanchez are replacement level guys. No need to spend money for that.

Just not sure AA wants Waters/Ball/Shewmake to see any time with the big club this year. Hopefully he'll surprise me.

Snitker coming on XM momentarily - don't think he can say anything since it's not official yet though.
