You're assuming after he gets over the virus he will immediately be in game shape. The season will have already started, he will have already missed all of spring training, and who knows if he will ever get it going after that. There is no minor league games to go on a rehab assignment.

Exactly. It’s still unknown if Freddie will be ready for the beginning of the season. Just because they’ve tested negative doesn’t mean they’re able to immediately be game ready. Rosenthal was saying it’s unclear as to whether Freddie will start the season on the IL.

Probably. He now has to quarantine for 14 days and test negative. And he's not played any baseball since 2019, so he can't just be expected to step in right away as soon as his quarantine is over. He won't be ready till the 2nd week of August at a minimum.
