Or you have a scenario where the niners give up the house for the #3 overall pick - He is a bust. Then they have effectively a throwaway pick with Purdy and he looks like he could be good.
There is always going to be something you can't guage by physical metrics on a QB that makes them successful.
Parcells always used to say he wanted a 3 year college starter that played in big games in front of big crowds. Thats what he saw in Romo and might be what we see in Purdy.
Parcells didn't really have an amazing record drafting QBs. with the Jets he drafted someone who I forget late in the draft and Pennington, with the Dolphins he took Henne and Pat White. His 2 wins were Bledsoe (number 1 pick) and Romo (undrafted) Romo also doesn't meet that standard, as he played on Eastern Illinois who didn't play big games in front of big crowds. Romo was a flyer who paid off.
Let's picka rando QB to meet all 4 Parcells criteria which are
1. Are they a college senior?
2. Did they graduate College?
3. Did they start 3 years or more?
4. Did they start 30 games or more?
5. Did they win 23 games or mor
6. Did they throw 2 or more touchdown passes for each interception?
7. Is their completion percentage above 60%?

Who are these surely not SB quality QBs? Patrick Mahomes and Aaron Rodgers. Brady also fails that test (only started 2 years at Michigan, sub 2 to 1 TD to INT)
I could keep banging away. Sure lots of guys fit this mold who are good (Luck, Manning, etc.) but generally speaking, it's not a good metric. There's legit something weird about what makes a good NFL QB. There's some physical but most of it seems to fall between the ears.
