Purdy lost to the VIkings and Bengals. I'll give him a pass for CLeveland because their defense is ill. Vikings defense is solid so I'd give a light pass there, but Cincy has a garbage defense overall.

Again - you expect him to be good at a rate even HOF QBs aren’t. I get it. Purdy is that good.

I expect him to use one of the 5 best offensive weapon packages in the NFL to be able to consistently put up numbers.

VEry few QBs have a running game and passing game that Purdy does and the coach that's amazing of getting max results from a QB.

Weird these criticisms never popped up on Mahomes when he had Hill/Kelce/Hunt/etc...

So is Mahomes just a good QB or an all timer despite a down statistical year?

Mahomes certainly had people critiquing him because of Cheetah and Kelce.

But even then while they're better than Deebo/Aiyuk and Kittle individually. His number 2 WR was never Aiyuk level. And he never had a RB like McCaffery. And he never had a defense as good. Purdy is given all the keys to the kingdom, he deserves his credit for playing well. But the Niners continuing the window will depend on him keeping this up when he's making 30M+ a season. We'll see if he's elite in 2026 when the Niners can't afford all the talent around him.

Niners are already in cap risk for next year (big contracts to WIlliams, Deebo, Warner, Armstead and Kittle) and upcoming huge cap hits for Bosa
 
Jimmy G experience makes me skeptical of basically any 49ers QB... dude is awful outside of that system... but dominated within it

I’d expect purdy to have up and down years like every other great qb in the history of the nfl in the salary cap era. But the tape is showing someone with very hugh level of skill as it relates to reading defenses and ability to anticipate how plays progress.

Not sure if you have just just watch some of the QB school tape on him on YouTube. It’s amazing what he’s doing.

Kyle SHanahan is a QB genius. 09 Schaub had his best season of his career. 2014 Brian Hoyer exists. Hoyer was a career backup and actually produced decent numbers under Shanahan. RG3. Etc.

Only critique is he isn't good at protecting his running QBs. As he killed Lance and could be held responsible for killing RG3.

Ryan of course put up an MVP season with Shanahan.

Will be interesting to see if the Falcons make a play for someone like Kirk Cousins and roll the dice. It would make sense to bridge the gap if they're still trying to compete and they could take a more riskier QB. Daniels, Penix, Sanders, Beck, Ewers, etc.

The Niners are really firing on all cylinders now. Very impressive team. They were uneven for a while. That being said, you’re delusional if you think you haven’t had a ton of absurdly stupid takes Mr. Steelers are a dark horse Super Bowl candidate. That’s one of the richest lately but you have a well documented history of saying some of the stupidest crap on this board.

Insiders saying Beck is staying another year. Probably not in play for the Falcons as he’s likely a top 10 pick in 2025 if he keeps progressing. I don’t know what I think about it but I feel like they will trade for Fields. Don’t love Smith at this point but I could see Fields having success in his system.

I assumed he would. I'm not worried about 2025 right now. Falcons are at risk of imploding again. Which is fine. Hopefully the next coach/gm will do better.

I root for the best, and assume the worst would happen. We have had exactly 1 good QB in the history of the Franchise. It's really sad.

Falcons need to suck hard at some point.

My dream is sign someone to QB next year like Cousins, and then when that fails, just tank. Sell off everyone, start again loaded up with picks.

The more I watch the more I realize Smith doesn't have a system because he doesn't know what he's doing.
