REAL FOOTBALL Thread

I remember when Zito said Payton wouldn't make much difference for the Saints, good times.

I dont like Brees at all, but he is a really good QB.

How can't you like Brees, he's a great guy, does a lot of community work.

Comes off a nice guy, I see no reason to hate him except if my team plays him.

Any team can say if they are relatively healthy they will be good.

If the 49ers are healthy by that time you are adding Crabtree/Manningham/Aldon to a team that is already a top 5 team. Falcons really hurt themselves by losing to Miami. That was a big time blow. I don't see how they get to 10 wins now. I mean, they are a damn good team but its hard for finesse teams to win games against physical teams on the road.

I don't see how the 49ers are "already a top 5 team." I certainly wouldn't put them in my top 5 right now. May be when they get healthy, but who knows when that will be.

My top 5 as of now:

Seattle
Denver
KC
NO
Houston

I dont recall that but regardless of what you think of Payton the Saints coaching last year was some of the worst I have ever seen. Its the difference between a coach that is trying to lose by as little as possible vs a coach who is playing to win the game. For example they could be down 20 points with 8 minutes to go in the game and they would punt the ball on 4th and 1. They wouldnt go for a 4th down unless it was the last 2 minutes of the game no matter what.

Hey, you are entitled to your opinion. I'm sure many share your view. I still believe pound for pound the 49ers are among the best teams in the league and when they get back some semblance of WR's then they will be the best.

The numbers don't lie. By the time Manning and Brees retire those 3 will own virtually all the quarterback records.

There've been a lot of great quarterbacks but the high octane offense is much harder to run and takes more skills and knowledge.

they may not lie, but they can certainly deceive. favre? come on.

Thats the thing. Brady or Manning wouldnt have kept throwing the ball like Brees. How can you say Brees is better just because he has the better numbers.

What? Have you watched Brady and Manning play?

Hey, remember when everyone on here laughed at the Bucs for trading out and not picking Claiborne?

Cowboys CB Morris Claiborne has lost his starting job to Orlando Scandrick.

Claiborne is only in his second NFL season, but he has the look of a bust. Working as the third corner, he got lit up by Keenan Allen in Sunday's loss to the Chargers. Claiborne is PFF's No. 99 corner of 101 qualifiers so far this season and was 83rd among 113 qualifiers last year. "He's just got to play better, and he will play better," coach Jason Garrett said.

The Niners waived Daniels... not sure I agree with that move. Yes, he was the third QB, but, he has a lot of potential, IMO.

Agreed. I don't like this move either but they must have been looking at Cunningham out of the draft. He hasn't been a bust so there has to be some off the field issues why the Pats released him.

Apparently, they just signed John Skelton (former Cardinal) to be their third QB... either Daniels got injured or was making no progress whatsoever for these moves to have happened.

better luck next time, thethe :eusa_dance:

Favre is easily one of the greatest of all time. Don't see what the issue with that is. Sure he stayed around way too long at the end, but he's still one of the best QB's ever.

one of the top 3? no. he's not better than peyton, brady, montana, young, elway, unitas, marino. rodgers will be better when all is said and done. i'm not saying he isn't one of the best, but top 3 is really stretching it. no way he's better than the first 7 guys up there.

Favre is outside of the top 10. Not that it's particularly bad, but 10 off the top of my head

Johnny U
Elway
Marino
Montana
Peyton
Brady
Brees
Otto Graham
Baugh
Starr
Staubach

Maybe a few others I would argue as well like Aikman, Kelly, Young, etc.

Favre is the Nolan Ryan of quarterbacks. His stats came from playing longer than anyone else.
