REAL FOOTBALL Thread

Yeah he really needs to prove he can be a pocket passer.
Luck to me is clearly the best of this young crop of QBs. He is going to be ridiculous.

There is no question that Luck is unreal. I'd put him top 5 right now. He has a total mastery of the offense but it should be noted that while his skills and head are above everyone he does have the benefit of his college coordinator. That continuity is huge.

Uh Oh....

A Falcons source tells the National Football Post's Jason Cole that Julio Jones (foot) "broke the screw that was put in his foot in his 2011 surgery."

We're not doctors, but it can't be good news that Jones' injury is (reportedly) related to the foot operation that clouded his pre-draft status in 2011. It would complicate any further surgery, and have the makings of a chronic issue. Jones is receiving a second opinion on Wednesday, where hopefully we'll learn more. Nothing will be for certain until/if Jones lands on injured reserve, but things are not looking good.

From ESPN debating on the crazy notion of taking either Alex Smith or Kaep:

Matt Williamson: I would way, way rather have Kaepernick. He is capable of extreme greatness. Smith is not. I am not worried about Kaepernick long-term. His weapons are really lacking.

Hmmmm....someone else has been saying the same thing.

Wilson has worse weapons and he's doing ok.

This, without Harvin.

I never said he was a top 5 QB now.

Please find when I said that. The top 5 QB's make their receivers better.

You said before the year, sometime the only QB's you'd take over him PM and Brady.

Now the Niners release Skelton and bring in Bethel-Thompson... so, you lost Daniels... for Bethel-Thompson? Really? What...?

In 2010 the 49ers drafted Anthony Davis and Mike Iupati with their two first round picks. That worked out pretty well didn't it?

Considering you could have had JPP, Dez Bryant, or Demaryius Thomas, yeah I'd say you could of done better, You always take a skill position player over an OL unless you have players at those positions already.

Then we build football teams in completely different ways. I first want to be strong on the lines and then build on the outside.

What did Kaep do this year when Davis was actually healthy?

I love your excuses

Davis was only healthy for one game, when Kaepernick has a good game.

OMG LOOK AT THE HEALTH DAVIS HAS.

Lol thinking Kaep has worse weapons than Wilson.

Wilson has Sydney Rice, Golden Tate, and Zach Miller as his normal starters. Those 3 have a combined 458 yards of the team total 1126. Kaepernick has Boldin, Williams, and Davis. Those 3 combine for 704 yards of the team total 969 (and also all 6 of the teams receiving TDs)

Could you argue that Wilson has better depth? Probably. But Wilson si clearly a better distributor of the ball.

Truth is that Kaepernick has had 1 good game without Crabtree. Maybe he just needs a guy like Crabtree in order to be a good QB. Maybe eh's one of those guys who needs a go to confidant a guy he can lock onto and get the ball in a pinch. Cause it seems to me like Alex Smith did pretty good back in 2011 before Crabtree broke out officially.
