An over pay for sure but given the ridiculous deal Flacco got, a better QB like Ryan was bound to get paid more.

Just wait til your injury risk waiting to happen QB gets paid. You won't be laughing when you lose your great defense.

They'll win 6-7 just b/c Brees is so good.

And their defense just needs to be average to get to 10 wins with how sick their O is.

I said the same on scout and people bashed me for it.

I'd take 13-15 instead of 20-22, that extra money could be the difference in keeping a key player or not.

Well, it's a lot, but they really had no choice.

What should they do then, let him walk, and sign someone cheaper, or draft an unproven QB?

The problem is their D was very far from average last year. Aka worst in the NFL.

The Falcons have a similar offense in terms of prospects, and a much better D. But I still dont' like the odds of winning the division. Certainly not as easily as they did last year.
 
Flacco won a playoff game where he threw for 34 yards.

NFL is the ultimate team game, period.

No it isn't, it's all on the QB. Ryan is the reason the Falcons lost to the Niners, not the defense that let up all the points in the second half lol IIRC Ryan had like the 3rd most points scored on them all year.

But great QBs lose games cause of their teams as often if not more than they lead their teams to wins. Aaron Rodgers had a great game against the niners, the Packers D and his receivers though sucked balls.

Great game is really overstating it. That last TD drive was when the game was already decided. He had an OK game. Ryan had a great first half against the niners but couldn't keep the momentum going.

You don't HAVE to do anything, also Freeman and Ryan have the same number of Super Bowl wins and Ryan has 1 more playoff win.

Yes you do. You are just going to let Ryan walk? And then what? Suck for another five years hoping you get another QB? Thats insane. They HAD to pay Ryan.

No you don't, it's that logic that sets franchises back years. You let Ryan play out his contract like Flacco did and see what he does....best case he wins the SB and he gets the same freaking deal.

Pretty sure you can find a QB for cheaper than 22 mil a year and then use that saved money on other players and get a better TEAM. Rather than tying up 35% of your cap in 1 player, who's never won anything.

The next contract is always the most. Whose to say that Ryan wouldn't have gotten more next year?

You don't want your franchise player to be playing for a contract and have that in the back of his mind. It worked for Flacco but that doesn't mean it would work for Ryan.
