REAL FOOTBALL Thread

A lot of those yards came from poor tackling which is a personnel issue, not scheme. The same issue I addressed with the running game applies to check down. I was glad they didn't give up a pass play longer than 20 yards. If they did, this game might have gone to the Cowboys.

Just bad strategy, imo. Took a good offensive performance to win. The Cowboys have nothing at WR without Dez and a garbage QB. Not sure why the gameplan is let them roam free underneath and play essentially a prevent defense. I would think loadin the box and stopping the run would be more effective. Make Weeden work.

I didn't think they played Weeden that poorly. They allowed him to complete dink and dunk passes, so what? He completed one pass to a WR.

I am concerned about how poorly they played the run though. They can't sustain their success by allowing every Sprolesian back to have career games against them. But I think that's a personnel issue. Worrilow isn't athletic and we don't have outside LB that can set the edge outside of Durant. Hopefully Reed can help in that area.

Reed should definitely help there. Boy we had some garbage at LB before Quinn came in... Worrilow can't range in coverage but I've been satisfied with his play in the middle still. He can thump.

Well they weren't playing anything resembling a prevent defense. Maybe it's fair to assume that Dallas' offensive line is vastly superior to the Falcons poor defensive line and linebackers? Not all weaknesses can be addressed by scheme changes.

He's so awful in coverage and he misses so many tackles. I think the Falcons could have a top 10 defense if you substituted him for Kuechly.

I think that's the obvious position to upgrade next offseason.

Might be. He isn't good in coverage for sure. I think he need to come off the field on 3rd down a good bit.

Kroy Bierman hasn't been that bad this year. About time!

I agree. I was hoping we'd use our 2nd round pick on an interior LB with a few options but I'll live. I certainly think we need one in the first or second round next year. That and another edge rusher are my top 2 priorities. Beasley's been great, but we need another one. At the very least to utilize a rotation, similar to how the Giants used to do it.

I wouldn't mind another offensive lineman or a tight end.

Give me the Safety from Duke that owned GT this passed weekend. That guy looks like a monster. Cash is his name.

I'm only going off early scouting reports. I don't watch college football, so I'm at a distinct disadvantage to prospects until post season when we have things like the combine and scouting videos.
