REAL FOOTBALL Thread

Then blame the refs for not ruling him down. Nothing he did was shady or illegal. He fell down while avoiding a sack, then got back up because he didn't believe he was touched and the whistle wasn't blown.

No, but to deny preferential treatment to stars in the NFL is silly. I look back at how certain QBs are treated you see it.

To go old school. Donovan McNabb used to get murdered in the pocket. If similar hits were put on Brady or Manning 15 yard fouls would be called. Favoritism and how someone plays the game certainly is a factor. "Hard nosed" players usually get less fouls called their way than softer players.

Preferential treatment sucks but it happens in all sports.

Manning clearly gave him self up like he always does. Luckily for him, he quickly realized the refs didn't blow the whistle and the Steelers had some rushing (because if they hit manning, it would have been a 15 yarder probably)

I was responding to Niners, who has been insinuating that Manning is somehow a cheater or some sort of football con artist.

No I am not saying Manning is either one of those things. Zito is saying exactly what I am saying. Only his way is working much better than mine.

Sum of the story is baseball players get paid much more for less demanding physical toll than football players. Sounds like sour grapes to me.

Yeah, having issues walking down stairs is sour grapes. Comments like this are becoming more and more common.

That was his choice as a career. I don't feel bad for him or anyone else who has issues after their career of playing a game for insane amounts money is finished. I have issues from my military service that weren't just playing a game either. Should I make a long post about my decisions and asking for sympathy.

I don't think he is asking for sympathy. I think he's saying if he had to do it over he would of chosen baseball. It hasn't been until recently that the long term health effects of football have been talked about. Had he known then what he knows now he may have made a different choice. And it's good that current young athletes know all the risks involved.

I think the point is, if he had known that high rate of brain related injuries caused by playing football, he would have chosen a different route.

Or he's really fine and just trying to piggyback on some guys that are truly having issues and grab some cash.
