REAL FOOTBALL Thread

I'm pretty certain that Brady's 102+ passer rating had something to do with it.

The move from Jameis Winston and his miserable 30 INTs to the best QB in the league is a massive win. Tampa wasn't that terrible either, at 7-9. Moving from a bottom 1/3 QB to a top 3 QB is a recipe for success. The team Brady had around him in Tampa was probably the best colleciton of talent he had in a long time. Since probably the 2010 Pats, at least the best since the 2016 Pats where he had a great defense to supplement his offense.

It’s always about the QB. No team has ever won without a good to great QB unless you had the 85 bears defense or you knew every single play call for your opponent (grudens Bucs)

Brady was about 80% of the reason the Bucs won that SB. It is true that they had a very good defense and a lot of playmakers. But Brady is Brady for a reason. Sure in 2020 you could put Mahomes, Rodgers, or Brees on that team and they likely still win it all. But all of those guys are future HOFers too. Let's understand that they still only went 11-5 in the regular season and they snuck by GB in the NFC Championship. So while they were very good, it wasn't like they were an all time great team.

If you put Burrow, Allen, Herbert, Lamar, Tua, or Dak on that team and they would have a really good chance to win it all, but I am not calling them a lock like I am the other guys.

If you put someone like Kyler Murray, Derek Carr, or Kirk Cousins on that 2020 team there is probably no way they make the SB, much less beat Mahomes.

Purdy would have won each game running away!

2000 Ravens won with probably the worst QB in NFL history but they had an all time defense.

Eli Manning is hardly a great QB but he won 2 super bowls on the back of the right talent and strong defense but more importantly a great defensive line.

True but the game has changed since then. Game managing QBs don't win super bowls anymore.

Eli also played well and made big plays. Eli never materialized into a great QB but he had great arm talent. That throw to Manningham in the second super bowl will go down as one of the greatest throws in SB history.

Its a QB league now and if you don't have one you may as well tank.

Didn't realize the Commanders hired Quinn. Lol. THey better hire a really good O-COord because Quinn cannot manage a game.

I think Quinn is a lot like McCarthy in that he isn’t going to scheme his way to a lot of wins and his in game decision making is questionable. But at least he knows how to run a staff and build up a baseline of competency. Everywhere he’s coached he’s done a good job at developing players.

McCarthy won a super bowl, that buys a ton of clout.
