REAL FOOTBALL Thread

All this chatter but lets not lose sight of the fact that at this point, it looks like the Bears chose the wrong QB. Imagine Daniels with those weapons and defense...they might be deep in the playoffs.

I don't think Daniels was the right pick for 1-1. Caleb Williams is the best QB prospect since Andrew Luck, you don't pass that up. Jayden Daniels was probably more NFL ready, with the highest floor of any QB but he hasn't shaken the biggest concerns with him, which is long term durability. Will he be able to play in the NFL for a decade? That will determine his abilities as a QB.

Do these Giants and Jets primetime games really draw better than actually good teams?

Every year we get stuck with 10 of these loser games and the teams are always awful

Lions should be on primetime at least 5 times this year. Not sure what the count has been so far but its definitely too low.

NY is the biggest media market in the world.

My brain isn't the best at recalling the specific numbers but despite being a laughing stock for a decade, the Giants are still one of the biggest fanbases in the league. I think it's like 1. Cowboys 2. Patriots 3. Packers 4. Steelers 5-8 Giants, Giants, Chiefs, Niners, Bears. Eagles sniff somewhere around

Jets the NFL was hoping wouldn't suck. I fully expect their media coverage to be killed next year.

8 Weeks into the season, Lamar seems on his way to his 3rd MVP.

2100 passing yards, 17 TDs 2 INTs, leads the league in NY/A he also has 500 rushing yards and 2 TDs. IF he keeps this up this will be one of the better seasons a QB has ever put up. I don't suspect he'll keep it up he should be do for some stinker games. But 5000 total yards and 40 scores is not super common. And damn he would have had more yards if Bateman had hands.

Some people will cite their record, but the loss vs. Cleveland is on the defense. THey had 3 legit dropped picks. Including a gimme under 2 minutes that would have sealed the victory. Same with their Raiders loss. Lamar basically needs to score 30 to win which isn't sustainable every week in the NFL unless you're the 07 pat.s

Its early so you never know but Andrew Luck and Trevor Law were both "best QB prospects since..." and neither lived up to it. Just the first year so he certainly can develop, but the gap between the 2 is enormous right now despite the Bears being loaded (Odunze, Allen, Moore, Swift, Kmet). The Commanders have 1 WR and an old ass Zach Ertz at TE.

One transformed one of the worst offenses in the NFL to the best (so far) in 1 year. The other has people saying, "well he did have 1 good quarter last game, thats progress"

For sure. If the Bears goal was to win now they made the wrong pick. But Caleb is a special talent. Luck lived up to his hype, he just couldn't stay healthy. T-Law is an example of intangibles>athletic ability. T-Law was an athletic freak who when he hit the NFL wasn't able to utilize that to his advantage like he did at Clemson.

I will never understand people that say Luck lived up to the hype. Granted he was an above average QB, but he was essentially a little bit better than what Trevor Lawrence has been despite also being hyped up as generational. He won 1 playoff game.

His teams were ass. But he won more than 1 playoff game he made it to an AFCCG. Look at his 2018 weapons, his RB was Marlon Mack his only top receiver was T.Y. HIlton who is a solid receiver. But not amazing, his line was mediocre to bad. He did a lot with little. Colts are a joke of an organization, propped up by the greatness that was Peyton Manning.

He was much better than Lawrence, if he had T-Law's OL and weapons he would have been a top 5 QB. That was back when you had great QBs too.

Josh Allen is the betting favorite. If it’s not him, then it’s probably Lamar

Lamar has to be the clear 1 now. Only reason I think he may not get it was because he won last year.

Lamar has 2600 yards, 19 TDs, 2 INTs, Josh has 1970 yards 17 TDs and 1 INT.

I guess Josh deserves a bit of a break because there was that game or 2 where he had no receivers worth a damn (I think that was when they played Baltimore)

Lamar also has Derrick Henry, who leads the league in rushing yards, yards per attempt, yards from scrimmage, and total TDs And he is currently on pace for another 2k yard season. Coming into Sunday's game against the Browns, Henry was on pace to break Dickerson's single season rushing record. Now, he's only slightly off pace at a projected 2,011 yards.

Lamar will certainly lose votes to Henry if Henry continues this torrid pace.

Luck's last 3 healthy seasons he averaged 4700 total yards with a 38/14 td/int ratio. That is significantly better than above average

I'm not a big Lamar guy but his mere presence is what is giving Henry this type of production.

Its impossible to stop the run when you have to account for 11 guys.

Henry for sure is helping Lamar, but MVP is a QB award. I think you're right in that he'll steal votes from Lamar. But I think Lamar is just clearly the 1 right now.

4 total, I looked at wrong column.

Who are Josh Allens WRs? Pat Mahomes?

This is false...where did you pull these from?

2018, 2016, and 2014 (i.e. his last 3 healthy years)

Total yards (Passing and rushing) in these seasons: 4741, 4785, 4879. Looks like I fat fingered the 4700 total. It should be 4800 average over these 3 years.

Total TDs (Passing and Rushing) in these seasons: 39, 33, 43. Average over these 3 years is 38.333

And before you bring up his 2015 season, he tore his labrum week 3 and tried to play through it. Then he received a lacerated kidney a few weeks later. There is no point in taking any sort of analysis from his 2015 season.
