Falcons expected to cut Cousins before his roster bonus is due, per Schefter. Would be 65M pre June 1 but i dont think they have the cap room to eat it all right now. Post June 1 is 40M now, and 25M in 26.

Falcons can eat the cap hit. But it would be stupid. Honestly I assume they do what the Broncos did and cut him before the roster bonus but designate him for post june.

Disagree. Not only is Rodgers better, but he's more healthy and comes with less financial risk.

It'd have to be pretty substantial overpay in draft picks for Lamar to be better option than Rodgers.

Just a quick bumpy of this when I said the Jets trading a 1 for Rodgers and not Lamar is really stupid.

Eh, Ravens probably match any offer for Lamar. So i dont think it really matters anyway. But as Kanye said, i guess we'll never really know.

Ravens would have been moronic to let Lamar go. Just commenting on the humor of people betting on Rodgers aging like Brady.

Gotta love being a lions fan.

One of the best teams in a decade and, break lead the league in wins all year, break franchise records, overcome historic injuries, and still have a win or die game in week 18 for the division and 1 seed.

If anyone is banged up this week, they should just rest them. I know Quinn won't and some of the dudes are too big warriors, but for example I wouldn't ride Gibbs because Montgomery is out. Give the 3 back plenty of touches.

That was some horrendous clock manager at the end for Morris. I’d have thought he had more game management experience than that

And…. Way to out it all on the rookie qb, and not pound them while it was working jeez

That was a rough game from Morris, IMO. Let the first and 2nd halves end with timeouts in his pockets. Just very odd clock management.

Penix was really inconsistent but overall decent. Lots of missed throws but made some really clutch throws when he needed to. Im not sure he can run (or wants to) with all the injuries he's had. Thought the defensive scheme was pretty good. Offensively, they probably should have run the ball more, the Commanders cannot stop the run.

But, Daniels is incredible. Its wild to see how nothing seems to faze him and he seems to step up in the clutch. Commanders have a ton of money and Peters seems to draft pretty well but we need corners and WRs really bad.

Odd clock management is being kind. It was an absolutely epic screw up by Morris. He said he hoped to get the snap off quicker and save a time out. There's 30 seconds on the clock and you have 2 time outs. What are you saving them for?!?!

Raheem Morris was a disaster in Tampa and wasn't great as the interim coach for Atlanta. He got this job because he was supposed to have learned and grown under McVay. This season he's shown he's the same disaster he was with the Bucs.

Honestly, the Falcons should fire him. There's zero reason to keep him around. He has an atrocious resume as a head coach and this year has only shown he's still that bad. You gotta hire him and Fonentot and move on.

They won't. They'll give Morris 3 years at least, maybe more.

The game vs the Niners doesnt really matter. They can lose, still beat Min, and get the 1 seed. It'll be interesting how Campbell approaches it. But it is crazy if they lose to Min, they drop to the 5th seed, and basically have to win 3 road games to make the SB.

Game management is one piece of the puzzle. He's also done some good as well. I think every team in the NFL would benefit from a time management person in the coaches ear. He was stuck with an old and injured QB that they paid a billion dollars to. (funny how he wore his helmet all night like he was gonna get in :) They lack a lot of high end talent on the defensive side (when you draft skill position players with every premium pick, that will do it), but they have established a solid foundation on defense (game plan was excellent last night). On offense I thought they did a lot of good things but Penix showed his inexperience. He looked outstanding on some key throws but missed a ton of easy throws. He seems to be a good developmental piece so he should go into next year as the starter.

I blame the GM way more than anything for Atlanta but they have put together a competitive team.

I am old and went to bed at the end of regulation, but it didn't surprise me that Daniels took the ball and spearheaded the winning drive with both his arms and legs. He stays healthy so that his threat as a runner remains intact and he is going to be a headache for whichever team he faces. Amazed that he's doing this well as a passer without a stellar set of receivers. Outside of McLaurin, it's a lunch bucket group, but they work hard and Daniels meshes well with them. That said, one more speed guy on the outside and the Commanders are going to be an offensive juggernaut.

So here's the playoff scenarios at play (I can see)

AFC - Mostly settled a few things that are up in the air

Ravens need to beat or tie CLeveland or Pit to lose or tie Bengals to clinch division.

Seeds are locked to division winners (KC 1, Buf 2, Bal/Pit3, Hou 4)

Only Denver, Miami and Bengals are in the playoff picture. Denver wins or ties and they're in. Miami needs a denver loss and a win, Cincy needs a denver and miami loss and a win. Mostly settled, Baltimore should beat cleveland (though it would be funny for them to lose) and Denver should beat the CHief's backups.

NFC has a lot more open.

Obviously we know that the winner of Detroit and Minnesota wins the number 1 seed and NFC North. If Detroit loses to SF tonight, they'll need to win and technicalyl they could just need a tie in week 18.

**** Mountain is the BUcs unless they lose.

Commanders and Packers will play for seeding. Packers need to have a better result than the commanders to not get the 7th seed. Will be interesting to see how those 2 teams approach it, do they rest banged up players or go hard because they'd much rather face the Rams than the Eagles.

Morris wasn't stuck with Cousins, he actively campaigned for him. In one of his interviews with Blank he laid out his plan to compete immediately and signing Cousins was the lynchpin.

He then bungled the handling of Cousins as it was obvious he had nothing in the tank long before he was pulled.

The defense could use more talent but it was also ridiculously poorly run most of the season. They tried to run Morris' soft zone and teams just shredded them. In the bye week they changed some things up that should have been done week one. The slowness to adapt is a hallmark of Morris.
