REAL FOOTBALL Thread

interesting part is, I never claimed anything close to that.

But when you say you had friends who became "sedentary" because of weed, but went on to be successful...what exactly is your point? That weed doesn't prohibit success? Then we agree.

Cowboys LB Sean Lee has been told that he has a torn ACL and is expected to miss the entire season, per @Edwerderespn.

Sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

CSN Bay Area reports Vernon Davis is skipping 49ers OTAs due to "dissatisfaction with his contract."

Davis, who is signed through 2015, is putting his money where his mouth is, as he's forfeiting a $200,000 workout bonus. Now 30, the pseudo-holdout will likely be in vain for Davis, who is owed a combined $9.05 million over the next two seasons. The 49ers have far more important contract issues to worry about with Colin Kaepernick, Aldon Smith, Michael Crabtree and coach Jim Harbaugh. It's unclear if Davis is planning to blow off next month's mandatory minicamp.

Alex Boone is also holding out. Players know the cap is increasing a lot and want to make sure they are getting paid. I will never fault a player for holding out.

Never is a strong word. Revis made rumbling of holding out after someone awarded him like 15 mill a year. I woulda been grumpy.

That's Sean Lee for you, heart of a lion, skills of a warrior, body of a china doll. Definitely NOT a loss the Cowboys D could afford, but nothing you can do about it now.

Pro athletes are some of the greediest people on the planet. Apparently VD's like 7 million dollar a year contract isn't good enough.

I don't blame him. You gotta get yours. The owners don't GAF about him. If he gets hurt he's done. They cut him minimal loss. It's the players job to get as much money as possible. He only gets like 10 years or so to make all the money for the rest of his life. Wouldn't you try to get as much as possible so your family could live the best life possible?

If I signed a contract I would honor it. He's going to bitch about a couple million dollars. That's like me bickering over 2 dollars.

The team doesn't have to honor it. They can terminate it. If this was any other sport I'd largely agree with you. But these are guys playing a game where they can get cut and not see the value of their contract.
