REAL FOOTBALL Thread

I just don't see how a team from the NFC wins 12 games. There are legitimately 10 teams that you could aruge that they can win 8 or more games. Its just too tough. I also have a feeling that this is going to be a big year for the Cowboys.

The Giants are banged up. Stevie Brown is done for the year and he was huge for them last year. Andre Brown is going to miss some games and their offensive line is a mess. I root for the Giants but I don't see them winning 10 games this year.

Falcons are in a really tough division. I see them losing at least 2 games in the division and thats generous IMO. Still believe they are one of the best 5 teams in football but that division is tough.

Divisions are tough but injuries and underperformers always lead to teams rising to the top in wins and teams falling.

You know the last time someone in the NFC didn't win 12 games? 1982, when they had a strike shortened season. Last time it legitimately happened was 1979. I can't see it happening just because of the odds that somoene will get 12 wins is way too high.

So given the fact that there should be 3 good QB prospects there are 3 teams who could potentially benefit the most from sucking next year/

Arizona - if Palmer sucks they'll need a QB really bad. Good defense and Fitz should mean a QB could put them in contention
Vikings - Ponder isn't a horrific QB but if they could get a top of the line QB they could be a Superbowl Contender.
Eagles - Is there any team who could use Johnny Manziel more? He would fit perfectly into that city, is a runner but has a real arm. Now depending on draft stock and things of that nature they may not need to suck too bad to get Manziel, may even be able to trade down.

You raise a good point but I just don't remember the NFC being this deep in a long long time. We will see.

I like that you think the 49ers are going to be that good. You must think Kaep is a stud!

NFC was really deep last year. Sure some teams will be better than last year but some teams will regress. Nature of the game. I think the Saints will be better and you'll get better records from the Lions and Panthers but another team or 2 will disappoint. One thing I do know is at minimum there will be 2 new playoff teams, I just hope the Falcons aren't cut out of that mix. I would be crushed.

Barring injury, I think the Packers, Seahawks, Niners, Falcons all make it.

East winner, then everyone else competing for one spot.

yeah, what zito said.

i'm sure everyone thought the lions were going to repeat what they did the year before. 6 game drop off.

Didn't want to hijack the fantasy thread Carp.

How is RG3 a better runner? They basically had the same effectiveness last year and RG3 is coming off of now his second knee injury. Kaep is bigger/stronger and knows how to avoid contact.

Nobody was as accurate as Kaep on the deep ball last year. Yes, he needs to improve his touch underneath but he was INCREDIBLY accurate last year. RG3 got reps with the first team for all of training camp while Kaep did not and took over midseason. Lets see what Kaep does with a full training camp with the ones.

Want to make an avatar bet on who is the better QB this year?

I like them both...im quite torn.

49ers line > Redskins
Wash Wideouts > 49ers
Kaeps health > Rg3

49ers will play betters defenses.

49ers Rbs will get more carries?

Kaep may be a bigger goal line presence?

They are both on a mission

What else?

49ers are actually not a good pass blocking line but they are the best run blocking line. Hopefully that improves this year.

I would agree with your overall assessment though.

I just watched Kaep every play last year and I just see stardom. I saw RG3 3 times last year and while impressed I don't believe he has the total package that Kaep has.

My factors are the strengths and limitations that their teams will bring to the table. Both dudes are pretty damn good..

Those defenses in the NFC West are also pretty damn good.

Eagles D is trash...
Giant are banged up and ehhh anyway.
Cowboys always get hurt...good potential...but not as good as the west.

49ers play in better weather.
