REAL FOOTBALL Thread

You think ur as good of a fan as someone in Boston that has 3 generations of fans living and dying with team?

Your stance on this is so absurd that I almost think you're just messing with everyone. Being a "good fan" means being emotionally invested in your team. It doesn't matter if you go to the actual game or just watch it on tv. Although the latter is way better, you can't see jack when you're at the game.

Who the hell cares about 3 generations of Boston fans living and dying with their teams? They're all dbags anyway.

5 years? Lol. What about 3 generations of fans supporting a team. Thats real support and rooting for teams 3k miles away isnt the same.

Huh? What the hell do ancestors have to do with ME?

Yes, I can be every bit the fan that a 22 yr old in Boston who has family that have been Red Sox fans since the 70s. That has nothing to do with me. I can care, follow, and know more than that person about a team.

I guess immigrants can't enjoy thanksgiving as much as MY family, who's been enjoying it since forever!!!

**** outta here dude, you're a moron.

Wow after reading through the last few pages, I just realized that being from Northern California, I may not be allowed to be a Braves fan, at least according to Giles. That sucks because I have watched them since the time when I thought Zane Smith was a great pitcher. I've never been to Atlanta, so I guess it makes no sense so I will go be a Giants fan and become a gigantic douche like most of their fans.

BTW, Heyward I noticed you were a Bronco fan. Was that you on the Chiefs scout site stirring things up before the first game a couple of weeks ago?

TBS is responsible for the majority of Braves fans in my opinion. I didnt start watching baseball until I was around 9 years old...cause thats around the time I began to play. My dad was trying to convince me how great baseball was..so he would put on the games all the time. TBS, Atlanta Braves, every night. Then I started to play, and there it was...I was addicted.

Andruw Jones' departure began to pick at my obsession...advancing past high school baseball pretty much ruined my love for the game...and my love for the Braves.

75 percent of Cowboy fans are fake ass bandwagon piece of **** assholes. They trash the team probably more than people who arent "fans" Dallas has been either terrible or mediocre my entire life. Quincy Carter was my favorite player and look at him....now its Romo and good god look at his perception

You can be local and be a terrible fan

LOL, yep, thats me, wasnt stirring anything up, just talking some football.

I feel terribly bad for 5-6 year old kids who never watched sports before, and one day happened to find their dad in the den getting drunk watching Sunday Night Football to two teams his/her dad have no allegiance to. If they end up liking Peyton Manning or Tom Brady, they're not real fans because they weren't alive to see them win superbowls so they have aren't true fans, just front-runner fans because both of those teams are going to make the playoffs this year.

TBS Braves fans aren't real Braves fans, unless you were in the state of Georgia, or South Carolina/Tennessee/Alabama on a town hugging the Georgia border. If you're a Braves fan because of TBS living in Oregon or North Dakota, you're not a real fan because you never lived anywhere close to Atlanta and you've probably never attended a Braves game seeing as how there's no major league teams in either of those states. It doesn't matter if you used to watch all 162 games on TBS, 2 decades ago, because you don't have a dad + a gramps + a great gramps who liked the team, unless of course if you lived in North Dakota and your great grandpa previously lived in the neighbor state of Wisconsin where you would have been a fan of the Milwaukee Braves. Then it's ok.

I think that's what gilesfan is trying to say.

HELLA LULZ.

Even if you did start likiing 1st place teams, so what? As long as you remain a fan of that team when they are bad it doesn't matter. Before TN had the Titans, I didn't watch a lot of NFL, but I liked the Cowboys in mid 90's. Had the Titans never came to TN, I'd probably still be a Cowboys fan and be pretty depressed right now.

Figures the biggest bandwagon fanbase in baseball would be offended bc most of you guys have no real ties to Atlanta or the Braves.

And so it is 100% official now. You are indeed a Washington Nationals fan. This is the least surprising heel turn I've seen since Hulk Hogan joined the nWo.

It's true about bandwagons. Partially due to TBS, but mainly due to the success in the 90s. I went to Braves games when there were a couple thousand at the games and the games were on TBS. Why wasn't there many Braves fans........they were on TBS! Now a large portion of Braves fans are 25 and have never been to Atlanta.

Despite the fact there are many out there like 50 who are not born or raised anywhere near Georgia or Atlanta, and watched the Braves on TBS through the 80's and reeked the reward of sticking with them through the 90's, that's they're fault also?

Better than a Bandwagon Nats fan trying to pose (and failing miserably I might add) as a braves fan on braves fan site.

gilesfan stopped being a true Braves when Marcus was cut from the team in 2006.

Or when the Expos moved and became the Washington Nationals in 2005. You pick your poison. Maybe 2005 was the tablesetter, and 2006 was the nail in the coffin.

If he didn't start rooting for the Expos until they moved, wouldn't he be a bandwagon jumper too?

If the President can exempt himself from Obamacare, then gilesfan can exempt himself from his own rules.

Unless there's a plot twist and he tells us he has been rooting for the Nationals since Chad Cordero pitched for the Expos.

He's been a fan since Bash at the Beach 96.
