REAL FOOTBALL Thread

I get the argument. Extra Pionts were converted at a 99.6% clip this year. Whats the point of even running the play?

I think going for 2 every time would be great. It would allow teams to come back more in games IMO or allow the great teams to really separate themselves sooner.

If they get a QB or Glennon plays well, they will be fine.

Except that they play in the NFC South so they'll have to go against Saints, PAnthers, and Falcons. Bucs job wasn't an easy one. And I think Lovie is a solid coach, I'm just not in love with him.

I heard Cutler got more than Stafford. Yikes on both those deals.

Lovie is an excellent coach. He went 81-63 with the Bears even despite not having any top QBs.

Lovie's fine if you keep him away from any game-planning on the offensive side of the ball. His approach to offense is, in a word, offensive.

It sounds as though recently-fired Vikings' coach Leslie Frazier will be joining Lovie as his Defensive Coordinator.

They both kind of come from the Dungy coaching tree and I've always thought Dungy was a little overrated. He's good, but I don't think he ever deserved the demigod status he has been accorded.

Yeah; and? He competed against the Packers for years. Lovie is a great coach and you know his defense will be one of the best....that alone gives him a shot in that division (Falcons and Saints on their way down). If he can get good QB play, they will be pretty solid.

(THis was in response to Zito)

I don't think a coach ever worries about what division they are going into. Maybe an NFC West team but all those coaches look firmly entrenched. Football is so varied that any team could win their division really.

Lol Falcons and Saints on their way down. As long as Brees is Brees the Saints are tough. They may lose great players but you can't replace a great QB. Falcons have one of the top 10 QBs in the NFL. They had a very down year defensively and lost their playmaker. Falcons wound up 4-12 but lost 7 of their games by one score, they could have easily won more games with more breaks. Falcons played the second toughest schedule in the NFL, behind only the Bucs.

If the Falcons just improve their pass rush and that's it they're a noticably better team .

Every team in the NFL tries to improve their pass rush. Its the absolute hardest thing to do in the NFL aside from getting a great QB. Almost every team can make the statement that as long as we improve our pass rush we are good.

LOL at the Bears giving Cutler 18 million a year, if true.

According to rotoworld.

Jesus, what are Wilson and Kap going to command, 25 million!?!?

Regards to the Bucs, its a tough division, sure.

But they got a good OL, good receivers, a good RB in Martin.

And that defense under Lovie could easily be top 5.

Get a top QB, and they could make a run at it, tough though.

The Eagle game was not his fault. Their defense was absolutely awful and he had to chance to win that game. When you have the downfield weapons that the bears do I want a big arm QB.

He put up 11 points and was close to **** against them.

If its true thats its 18 mil a year, thats a horrible move.

#Bears QB Jay Cutler’s contract: 7 years, $126 million with $54M guaranteed.

Jesus ****ing christ thats awful.

Haha haha. How is he getting paid as much as Ryan? I mean per year Ryan gets more but he's right there in what matters, guaranteed money. Holy hell. Wilson is gonna get paid. Cause hell have kaepernick going first who'll probably sign at least a similar deal to cutler

According to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, the Lions' interest in Chargers OC Ken Whisenhunt for their head-coaching vacancy is "very strong."
Per Rapsheet, the Lions have been "calling around, checking references" on the former Cardinals head coach. The sides can't arrange an interview until the Bolts' playoff run is through. Whiz would be an extremely sensible retread candidate for the Lions. His Cardinals tenure almost certainly would have lasted longer if not for Arizona's total inability to find a quarterback. He'd be a steadying hand for an undisciplined team.

Would be a good fit for Stafford.

Does he have QB coach background?
