Red Sox To Acquire Drew Pomeranz From Padres

I am honestly piss because i feel that Drew Pomeranz is not that great and now San Diego add another arm after they got Adrian Morejon. Boston over pay with this deal.

I dont think we would have gotten Moncada, but Benindenti, Devers or Ezpinosa+ would have been attainable if thats the cost for Pomeranz.

Yeah, if they were willing to give up Espinoza for Pomeranz straight up you'd think we would have been able to get Benintendi straight up, or at least Benintendi and side prospects for Julio and Viz.

Provided that Pomeranz holds up this is easily a worthwhile gamble from Boston's perspective.

By all appearances this sets a high bar for available premium SP talent - but also likely subtracts one of the biggest suitors from the market.

Jeez. Confirms Sawx fans fears about Dombrowski. Espinosa is young but damn . . .

Makes Preller look like a little less of a dope.

If this is representative of the SP market in general, we need to try to trade Lucas Harrell in the next 24 hours.

So, the Red Sox have traded Manuel Margot, Carlos Asuaje, Javier Guerra, Logan Allen and Anderson Espinoza to SD for Kimbrel and Pomeranz.

Pomeranz:

less team control than Julio
less of a track record than Julio
more of an injury risk than Julio

and was worth a top 15 prospect? Yet Julio is only worth a 45 FV guy? I'm glad Coppy is keeping him.

Ditto, if a team wants to knock his shoes off, go ahead and trade JT.

But no sense in trading him just to trade him.

It's not outside of the realm of possibility that Boston still makes a play for Teheran. Dombrowski likes to make splashes.

I see Pmoeranz as fool's gold, but I'm also the guy who thought Cueto would be terrible, and Latos would be an excellent buy-low option. So what the hell do I know? The Braves should probably just do the exact opposite of what I suggest.

One can hope. After the baseline he just set with the Pomeranz we know we'd be getting a great haul. Getting Julio, Pomeranz, and Viz would make them a team that could go toe to toe with the Cubs, Giants, or whoever.

I mean if it cost them Ezpinosa for Pomeranz, i dont wanna imagine the cost for Julio.

Devers, Bendi is a starting point i'd think.

I see Pmoeranz as fool's gold,

He's most likely not as good as he's been this year, but I think fool's gold is a bit strong. He's been a pretty solid pitcher the past three years, just finally getting a chance to start full time. And he's a former top 5 pick, the tools are there.
