I can't think of any war where a soldier is 90% more likely to die by friendly fire than by being killed by the other side.

Not trying to be argumentative, but that is what I saw in the videos. The first video blocked his arm, in the second video, you could see him reaching for something. You can also hear the officers telling him to stop several times.

Also, if he was not reaching for the gun in his pocket, it's obviously a bad shooting by panicked officers. However, resisting arrest while being armed puts everyone's lives at risk.

I don't have any interest in getting into an argument about it; I just find it fascinating that you watched that video and thought "this is normal; this is how things should work."

But to answer your question, I saw a man physically dominated and pinned to the ground, who was then shot while being almost completely immobilized. He clearly was not in control of any weapon, since the gun was pulled from his pocket after he was killed. I don't care if he was a saint, but I believe it is unacceptable that cops could not resolve that situation without killing him.

All I want is your point of view. Unfortunately due to the size and strength of the man, he was not completely detained. He did not have a gun in his hand; however, his right arm was not contained and was in close proximity to his pocket where it was previously established that he had a gun.

Im interested in hearing what the cops could have done differently in this instance. They try to question him. They tried to taze him. They try to wrestle him and contain him on the ground and none of it worked. It is extremely difficult to detain a 300 pound man that doesn't want to be detained. Add to it that he had a gun in his hand and it makes for a very dicey situation.

It would be interesting to read how cops could have handled this situation. Its clear that Sterling should have handled this situation better.

She is quite obviously a racist. Read through the posts and you can see that. Black lives matter is a group of people who "peacefully" protest. Every group has radicals though and I know a small amount doesn't make up the whole, but it can't go unnoticed.

"Not completely detained and having a hand potentially near a weapon" is not nearly enough to shoot someone. Especially someone who was just standing there passively resisting. They were not intervening in a violent situation; they walked up on him just standing there. The idea that they

I doubt think these cops shot him because they were flagrant racists, but I think they are obviously terrible at being cops. Cops need to be able to safely subdue or talk down an unhappy person who is not behaving violently. The vast majority of cops are capable of this and do it successfully all the time.

Im sorry, but someone resisting arrest with a gun on them and not being dominated (like you claim) is enough. How would the cops know that the situation was violent or not, the call was for something being threatened with a pistol. Is that considered violent?

Cops should also attempt to improve on detaining suspects; however, blame still lies on victims when they resist arrest.

I don't understand how someone can be completely dominated if they are wrestling their arm away from the cops in proximity to a weapon.
 
I agree with Meta. These guys aren't necessarily racist, but they are definitely not good at their jobs.

Pay cops more—considerably more— and require a higher standard of professionalism and training.

My brother is a LE guy. The **** that happens on his job versus his compensation would be laughable if it weren't so sad. Of course, he lives in a place where the idea of an increase in taxes to fund basic services is as taboo as incest.

Don't put your public safety in the hands of lowest-common-denominator-type folks, often poorly trained and/or under substantial stress.

I couldn't have explained my thoughts on the situation any better than this. This is 100% correct.

I have no problem paying additional taxes for higher quality public services.

Please reconsider your point of view. I hate it when people claim all cops are pigs..........I have very good black friends that are nothing like you describe and grew up in a predominately black school system.
