Republican voter suppression...

their whole existence

reading thethe rants reminds me why "unity" can't happen and is why i just laugh when he and others of his ilk spout about the lack of unity lol

I don’t want to unify with communists.

Can someone kindly defend the outrage to the new GA bill?

All I see is “ban water bottles”, when my understanding poll workers can still provide free water to voters (and received increased funding to do so).

What am I missing here?

Bump.

I am not being cynical. I truly want to understand the other side of this issue. I honestly don’t understand it at all, but I have an open mind.

Now it’s just “drop boxes” repeated over and over. Those are the new marching orders.

Oh yeah that ship has sailed

It was never there.

Just like when Obama was elected

Mitch and the other hacks said they would vote no no matter what and their plan was to make him a one term president

Republicans/maga have no desire for unity. It’s their way or the highway. Bend the knee or else

Would be fun to have goldy try to answer this one.

Will give him a few min to go find a corporate statement to post.

Those things are absurd etc

But the scariest part, as I have said at least elsewhere ( if not in this thread), is the replacing election boards and stripping the Secretary of State the power to do their job

This bill is a direct consequence of not doing what trump wanted

All of this cause of the big lie

Local election boards proved countless times during the whole election cycle that they aren’t equipped to do their jobs efficiently.

The grasping for the smallest straws is indicative of how good the bill is.

How is raffens... a hero in all this?

He was caught lying about a conversation with the POTUS for political reasons. That is precisely the reason a member of the executive branch should not have power over elections and that power should rest with the legislature.

Lol, yeah, suddenly an issue cause your liar didn’t like it

Stfu

I guess you didn’t pay attention during 2020 when votes were ‘found’ and pipes bursted randomly in the middle of the night.

You have absolutely no clue what you’re talking about and are jus taking talking points from other posters on this forum who said that many times before you did.

There are certainly counties in GA that I don't think that can run a ship shape election.

From experience.

It’s the most pointless gripe of the whole thing.

This issue has predated 2020 but the heightened participation exacerbated the deficiencies.

The county election official thing is pretty overblown. Fulton County's elections were a disaster this last year (both primaries and general). Their elections board tried to fire the elections director but was stopped by the county commissioners. The guy deserved to be ousted but dysfunctional county government couldn't do it.

Honestly, I don't think counties should be administering elections this day in age. It results in so much redundancy across the state and you end up with local hacks who have no idea how to do their job and who aren't able to keep up with the changes necessary to run an election.

And this isn't a problem confined to Fulton County. I can tell you my very red suburban county had no idea what they were doing during early voting.

Primaries concern me more. I dont like that either side is not required to run an honest primary. I dont think Hillary in 2016 or Romney in 2012 would have won an honest primary.

Exactly. It’s yet another talking point to try and scare people because the part of the legislation they fear the most, voter ID, is universally popular.

I hate primaries. I want to do away with them as much as possible. Primaries basically allow the most extreme third of America to choose our candidates and, especially in the case of President, put tremendous power in the hands of unelected party officials. If I had my way, all house and senate races would go to ranked choice voting immediately. I'd like to see something similar happen with the presidency but it would be difficult as you'd have 20 people on the ballot.

Primaries is just such a dumb way to do something as important as pick the candidates for the general election.
