Listen if you don't plan on having quality depth to cover 2 OFers going down and 2 IF's going down then you suck at your job
MLB.com’s Mark Bowman reported that the Braves are looking internally to replace Austin Riley with players like Luke Williams, Brain Anderson, and Alejo Lopez.
Considering Williams is on the active roster, he’s likely to favorite to get the first crack at the job. The 28-year-old is just 2-for-17 in 23 games at the big league level this season but was hitting .287/.348/.508 in 46 games at Triple-A with eight home runs and 15 steals. He also hit 12 home runs and stole 28 bases in Triple-A last year with the Braves and Dodgers, so there is some mild five-category upside in deeper formats if he can hold onto the job. Both Alejo Lopez and Brian Anderson would need to be added to the 40-man roster, but Lopez is hitting .308/.394/.393 in 96 games at Triple-A with 21 steals, so he could be a speed asset if he gets an opportunity. Nacho Alvarez is currently dealing with pneumonia, which has taken him out of the running for the job, and Bowman claims there are no current plans to move Whit Merrifield to third base.
Those options stink
I mean if we’re being honest they didn’t have the depth to cover anyone going down (outside of pitching)
So we would have to make it to the divisional round for Riley to make it back pretty much. I’d say he’s probably done for the year.
Hopefully it will be closer to the 6 weeks than the 8. It being his right hand he may be able to come back and DH if he cant play defense bc its not his lead hand on swing. Hopefully a couple of guys get hot and can help carry the team.
They could cover one of the catchers going down. But how many teams in baseball can cover their starting 2B out 8 weeks, starting 3B out 6-8 weeks, lose your ace and best position player for the season. While also losing your starting center fielder for 2+ months. On top of having other mixed in injuries as well. I get having some guys on the 10 day DL. But you cant plan to lose guys for 2+ months.
Thats plus having absolute insane bad luck in games.

Anyone remember when Freddie came back from a fractured wrist ? That first month is usually rough.
honestly don't get what benefit Riley at DH provides.. The Braves have a better DH than Riley and probably a better back up DH in Soler.. There is only so many DH's a team can realistically force into a lineup.
There's not much you can do, and i dont know if you can blame AA for this. No one can predict them losing all these players to injury. It's a miracle they have the record they do at this point.
I hear Chipper isn't doing much these days
