Riley out 6-8 weeks

I actually thought Urshela made sense as a bench option during the off-season and he only cost $1.5 million. He was a 3.0 bWAR guy for the Twins in 2022. He's no world-beater, but he's better than Luke Williams.

I mean, I know you guys are not excited.. but I am just not a fan of another older slow guy with a weak arm and no range who swings at everything but can't hit the ball hard kind of guy. The Braves have that with Arcia.

I think this board will be singing a different tune about him in 2 weeks.

Like you, I was really longing for Luke Williams to be an every day guy. Urshela cant hold Luke's jock strap

I think either just use Anderson or Luke... or get creative with Olson at 3rd and Ozuna at first and DH'ing the catchers. Call up Tromp as the emergency catcher.

Does anyone really think the defensive drop from Riley to Olson and Olson to Ozuna will be enough to be worse than the offensive drop from little mermaid octopus to Murphy/TDA?

I don't

Stop

You're obnoxious, but yes I'm crying, not just for Riley but because I think it was on purpose by the pitcher. Plus, the Brave's chances are greatly diminished without Riley. Jack Kochanowicz a native of high school, Harriton HS, and right down the road from Philadelphia and probably a die hard Philly fan. Angels don't have a chance for the playoffs. Jack Kochanowicz, "wouldn't it be nice to help the Phil's get into the playoffs and I can go home to watch my favorite team". Who do the Brave's play for seven more games? And without Riley?

From Mark Bowman: https://www.mlb.com/news/braves-need-a-healthy-austin-riley-for-playoff-push

With seven of their next 14 games against the Phillies, the Braves have a chance to resuscitate their bid for a seventh straight NL East title.

However:

Insurmountable deficit? Probably.

Insurmountable deficit without Riley? Definitely.

You have serious issues.

offensively.. no. I laid my wish offensively with Luke as a pinch runner stay in game to play 3rd... But Twit and AA are never going to do something like that.

But urshela is another Sorryio reboot.. slow player with no power who doesn't walk and swings at everything and can't play any defense that was released by a bad team.

This is just like when some of you guys said there was no down side to signing Sorryio and then two month later everyone couldn't believe he was still on the team... I definitely caught slack for saying there actually was a downside..

There’s no downside when there aren’t better options.

And they cut him, so it really wasn't any downside. There was no one else but Eddie at that point, and it's basically the same thing now. Hopefully whit can keep doing good as a brave, and he can move to 3b when Ozzie is back

meh.. he was played way too much and given way too many chances to "prove" himself because he did something in 21... but it is in the past and this season is crap because of regression and injuries. So The Gio move isn't going to be the main reason the Braves miss the playoffs.. But he is certainly not going to help them get there. It will take the rest of the team to carry the scrubs for the Braves to have a shot.

I personally want the best ball players on the field when they are in a literal dog fight for the post season. If the team was up by 7 games, then fine.. try this move.
