Russia Collusion Scandal (aka A Leftist fantasy)

Yes, lawyers lawyering. To the press, no less.

Those emails would be obtainable from the GSA were presented a search warrant, which means probable cause that a crime was committed. Then any privelege claims will be adjudicated. That probably doesn't bode well for the folks involved.

Was there a law broken by obtaining the information without one? That's the question.

There are numerous scenarios under which they would be available with a simple court order or subpoena, in addition to the search warrant scenario I posited. Why do you assume that they were illegally obtained?

If a law was broken, the Justice Department should take appropriate steps. What would possibly prevent them from doing so.

Also why would a search warrant be needed in this situation. If one government agency (including one involved in law enforcement) asks another government agency for information in its possession, I don't think a warrant is needed. An administrative request is sufficient.

But if anything improper was done, the Justice Department should do its job. And who is in charge of the Justice Department? The president and his appointees I believe. And who is the FBI director? A Trump appointee I believe, who has contributed $40,000 in recent years to Republican candidates and zero to Democrats. Does that mean he is incapable of acting in a professional non-partisan manner? Its not something I worry about. He is a pro with a solid reputation.
