I personally thought it was common knowledge that Trump wanted Mueller gone.
It is except the president, Conway and a couple others are on record weeks later saying it was never a consideration to fire him.

The first person who can eloquently and cogently summarize for me why anyone should give a **** about this receives a "I will not mock you" token good for 1 day.
Julio yours is only good for 0.5 days.
I'm scared of being mocked.
My assumption is that Trump is making noise about firing Mueller and it's someone close to Trump trying to save him from himself. In June it was Chris Ruddy doing it on the record, iirc.
So, no, I'm not really sure if there's any reason to care, since it's pretty much agreed-upon that he wants to fire him. Unless this is supposed to be some bank shot related to testimony re Trump's state of mind w/r/t obstruction.
Awesome that this is what Russia collusion has come to. Absolutely nothing
Of course genius Don denies it even as his boy Hannity confirmed it and defended him last night.
Wait, what? I'm not saying it's some sort of strong evidence or anything, but Trump trying to fire Mueller is certainly not a point in your favor.

It also reinforces the narrative from Fire and Fury, that Trump is out of his depth, needs to be controlled and that there is a general state of chaos around Trump. It's interesting that this is the 2nd or 3rd time we've heard that his inner staff has threatened to quit to get him to behave.
Now the question is once he is subpoenaed, and he will be subpoenaed, will he ignore the subpoena ?
And how will Congress react
Remember a year or so ago we brought up "constitutional crisis."
Here it comes
