Russia Collusion Scandal (aka A Leftist fantasy)

Had nothing to do with collusion, just Trump's audacious and unparalleled mendacity.

which is not a minor thing...i realize this is the collusion thread, but there are some other related topics worth letting seep into it...such as the question Gowdy raised, which is why he doesn't stop acting as if he's guilty of something

Trump has said whitch hunt with regard to collusion.

Home knowing of potential meddling has nothing to do with that.

Frankly I'm quite certain other countries do it every year, and I don't blame the for trying

he and his minions have also made strenuous efforts to impede and undermine the investigation...i would think if there is no collusion he would be eager to get to the bottom of things and would cooperate with the investigation and make himself available for an interview...maybe i am thinking too logically here...assuming there is nothing to hide

Well considering half the country wants him impeached and has already decided he's guilty of... Everything, I think it's human nature to be fed up with it.

How's their track record stack up? Actually I already know you applauded all of our foreign invasions and occupations already.

BUT PUTIN OMG RUN AWAY AHHHHHHJJ

you know the president will have his opportunity to respond to Mueller's findings...so he has no good reason to try to impede the investigation...in fact his duty is to assist and cooperate in any way possible

You'd think if Mueller had anything on Trump it would have been released by now

I will say there is a significant difference between the massaging of the Iraq war WMD intelligence and the product that’s been used in the Mueller investigation so far, at least in what’s been made public. The WMD stuff was stovepiped by political appointees and often bypassed career staff. A lot of it was hotly disputed before the war even began (aluminum tubes, source “Curveball,” yellowcake from Niger). Further, it wasn’t being used to potentially build a criminal case, so obviously the evidentiary standard was different.

The Mueller case, thus far, has used a lot of signals intelligence and bank records, etc, which is a lot more clear-cut than human intelligence.

although with Butina we now move to a more subjective realm

Not the way it works. These kinds of investigations always start in the periphery with minor actors who are easily charged and flipped and then gradually close in on the big fish, if possible. It's slow but effective.

It's already public record that both Jared and Don, Jr. are in the net.

So he's known since before the election that there was proof of unprecedented Russian manipulation, and seen the proof himself. Every time he spoke or tweeted the words "witch hunt" or "fake media" he was knowingly lying to protect himself and an enemy of America.

If he knew bc Obama officials told him, doesn't that mean Obama knew about it. And did nothing?

I don't understand why all this happened under the Obama admin but it's Trump who has to answer for it. If there was collusion, have at it. But until there's evidence of that, you guys are mad at the wrong people

It seems to me that Obama should have done something more, but I’m not sure what options were on the table. They imposed additional sanctions, they asked the Republican leadership to issue a joint statement condemning Russian interference in the election (which invitation was declined).

What would you have preferred? A proportionate cyber attack? Military action? This happened in the very last months of his presidency. Really, what should he have done? If you’re not just trolling, you should have a suggestion, right?

I'm not making a suggestion bc ultimately I don't think it's a huge deal... It's expected behavior and our response should be to have competent security. No, I don't want to wage war.

But the left is furious at Trump over the alleged interference yet Trump had nothing to do with it.

As far as actions though, I'd say Trump has been tougher on Russia than Obama was.
