Literally have zero clue about Hegseth. Vet turned Fox News contributor is a non-traditional path to Defense Secretary, to say the least.
 
I like Elon. I have some concerns about a member of the private sector essentially in charge of discretionary spending (I guess conflict of interest is no longer a thing?).

Vivek has found his role in the Trump admin.

I really do like the DOGE initiative. I have a little concern about Elon and Vivek - not bc they aren't capable (obviously) but that i think it can become more of a meme than a serious project. I can also see them favoring their own friends/ special interests. Also, Elon is pretty ****ing busy

I like that there is a deadline... as I also fear that creating another department just increases the beaurocracy further (of course it doesn't have to abode by thos deadline)

But, I applaud Trump for the idea, and normalizing it with brilliant people tasked to lead. I really hope it works. I'm not sure to what extent they can control or influence congress spending, but I would expect they could get rid of a ton of useless federal employees and regulations

I think they are using this period to identify internal leakers personally.

It was just repeated today it’s Pete Hegseth.

My wife has worked with him now for a while and says he’s a nice person off camera as well. I’m once removed from secretary of defense!!!

I have a hot new government waste tip for Elon and Vivek to look into. Spending federal money to trample state’s rights seems like an inefficient use of tax dollars, does it not?

Actually it would be a check on states rights that are trying to overrule federal laws of immigration.

But I'm shocked that this is how you'd view it despite overwhelming percentage of the nation wanting illegals to be removed.

I am actually heavily in favor of a full scale audit of government efficiency. I don’t think putting a court jester with a vested interest in reducing specific regulations in charge of it is a good start, but hopefully they identify some waste. I’ll be pretty frustrated if the department doesn’t spend the entire next four years at the Pentagon, though.

If the vast majority of people think their lives will be improved by sending the National Guard to find undocumented immigrants hiding out in Southern California, I simply do not care what those people think.
