Second ('Third') Trump Presidency Thread

In a perfect system like this libertarianism is possible. Now? It’s a joke and reserved to delusional people who have no understanding of human nature.
Trumps legacy would last a lot longer if he dismantled the government we have today, instead he is funding more of it

A libertarian would argue it'd be a lot harder for the dems to build it back

A major strategic mistake

Comparing Harris and Trump.

Hahahahaha

Doesn’t get better than that as we are besrinf unprecedented cooperation in the Middle East. Damaged.

Power has shifted between the two shitty parties on a regular basis. I think it’s at least a candidate/party issue as much as a voter issue. When the only viable candidates in a presidential election are Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, no amount of voter suppression can save you.
If we had only intelligent people voting, we would never see candidates like trump or Kamala

We get them because we have to appeal to the idiots

Federal workforce is shrinking. His Supreme Court nominees helped get rid of federal agencies judicial systems.

It is being broken down

Which departments are being defunded in the BBB or the CR?

Do you think on day 1 Trump can come in and say its all over.

This has been built up over a century. Its not coming down in one felt swoop.

Do you not agree that the two pieces I mentioned are helpful?

Helpful until a dem comes in and hires them back.

You have to dismantle the system

Trump is a 1 term president who could really make.dramatic change. But hes not interested in reducing the size of government,. Never has been

Can you propose a 'lasting' change that can't be undone with a Dem in charge?

Yes. Closing down an entire department, like the department of education among many others. Completely defund it. Fire everyone.

A future dem would then need congress to vote, fund, and re establish it in the future. A much tougher hurdle than simply adding to it, especially when the public sees how unnecessary it was after life without it

When you think 18 year old kids who want a communist takeover of the country and kill dissidents should vote you need to reconsider your whole worldview.
I've literally seen you post about killing or jailing "dissenters." I suppose that means you shouldn't vote either.

Ok fair but a general civics question - If Congress at one point approved it how can a president remove it from existence? It sounds like its just not funded but the appropriation was voted on and always sits there. Is that incorrect?

You are correct.

Trump needs to walk down to MAGA Mike Johnsons office and say "i will not be signing any budget that includes funding for the dept of education"

Then MAGA Mike Johnson needs to go do his job

But isn't this just the inverse of what a dem controlled congress could do?

How would you define that as 'lasting' change?

I don't know. But I do know that freedom in a democratic republic looks like everyone can freely have whatever opinion they want, even a bad one. That's founding principle of freedom.
Agreed. But how about we punish education systems who take tax dollars to educate children about the virtues of communism?

You don't know?

Is that actually your answer?
