Second ('Third') Trump Presidency Thread

Oh the many wonderful takes during the primary and presidential run. Think it’s safe to say Trump understands the country better than most.

do you consider me someone as "soft right"

my position was that there was no upside to it, especially after having been lectured that we have to soften our stance on abortion to win over the childless cat lady

Its not you - You're good dude. Just fell off the rails a bit.

Its the online right ecosystem that was completely misled people for their own selfish reasons.

No I suggested that when the Supreme Court rules something to be unconstitutional, then that should lead to an impeachment of the responsible person for breaking the law

you told me how silly that was. so if and when the SC does that to Trump, I can not care as you didn't

Biden kept disobeying the law and forgiving the loans AFTER the SCOTUS said he couldn't do it.

That should have been impeachment and jail time.

Can I get a flow chart what is in violence incitement vs what is protecting democracy

is it as simple as (R) or (D)?

That was and still is silly. No one here has or ever will suggest Trump go to jail for an executive order being ruled unconstitutional.

He probably views him as the puppet he will use to try to retain as much power as possible.its not illegal or unconstitutional but looks pretty bad to voters.

Hope Trump knows what he's doing on steel and aluminum tariffs. I work in glass/aluminum storefront, and I'm a little worried bc our prices will go up considerably

don't know the context but audibly laughed when I read this tweet

He then said "No, but he's very capable. I think you have a lot of very capable people. So far I think he's doing a fantastic job. It's too early, we're just starting."

While the services are pulling out of BEYA, a well-established pipeline for high-caliber STEM talent, they remain engaged with other events. Last week, the same Army recruiting unit that would have attended BEYA instead participated in a National Rifle Association-sponsored event in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, a predominantly white gathering that recruiters acknowledge is less likely to yield high-quality applicants.

Spending your time with the NRA instead of a bunch of engineers to get us back to prioritizing merit.

Vance is incredible and he will take this constructive criticism like the man he is - it will not even be a close primary in 28.

It's a terrible idea and will mostly hurt Americans

WSJ sums it up nicely:

“ This is political rent-seeking at its most brazen, and it benefits the few at the expense of the many. None of this matters to Mr. Trump, whose dogmatic views on tariffs can’t be turned by evidence.”

Wow - the “Wall Street” journal is against tariffs and cites “evidence”against them.

Totally shocked. Completely out of left field.

One needs to look no further than the last time President Trump occupied the White House, when his administration imposed “national security” tariffs of 25 percent on imported steel and 10 percent on imported aluminum under Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962. Several economic studies have found that those tariffs imposed high costs on Americans, particularly firms and workers in steel-consuming industries, and the costs dwarfed whatever gains the tariffs led to in terms of increased capacity utilization and employment in US steelmaking (Table 1).

Trump imposed the tariffs in 2018 and they've determined that in that short runway ~1.5 years until the pandemic shutdown (when economy was roaring) that hte book is closed.

How could you possibly beat this type of analysis? Lets just ignore the type of activity that was happening in Q4 19 - That would have absolutely stopped even without the Pandemic. You know things like median income rising at its highest level in decades. Inflation adjusted wages. Some silly inconvenient things in spite of trumps 'reckless' tariff policy.

Globalism 'free trade' gets 30-40 years of a runway to evaluate performance.

Trumps tariffs gets 1.5 years which are then interrupted by an economic nuclear bomb when things were going gangbusters.

MAKE IT MAKE SENSE!

(Again)... tariffs have been imposed many times through world history.
