I didn’t get to go on the USS Constitution this past weekend because of the shutdown. It’s a dream of mine, I love the Age of Sail, Wooden Ships and Iron Men stuff.
It’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make for the greater good. Just gives me another reason to go back.

The body scanner at Logan airport detected an “anomaly” when I went through. In my “crotch area” as the TSA lady said. The other TSA dude came over to pat me down and found no reason for it. I asked what caused it and he said it happens a lot. It was kind of awkward to have a dude patting down my crotch so I said “So does that mean you pat down a lot of anomalous crotches?” He was not amused.
If there’s one ally you need to beat that fascist reputation, an ultra-conservative Italy is definitely one of those options…

You’re the one using “traditional” alliances as a point in Trump’s favor. I’m merely pointing out that traditionally, Italy in this state isn’t the best option for this argument.
“Traditional” alliances is always in reference to the post WW2 order. Is Germany not then considered a “traditional ally in your book becuse that’s exactly what they’ve been for 75 years.

I’m not accusing Trump of being Hitler, but a surprising amount of discourse today rests on the faulty premise that one cannot be like Hitler unless their target is explicitly Jewish people.
This is a lot of intent being projected on a joke I’m making about Italy.
If we’re being that literal, one cannot be Hitler unless they were an Austrian art student with a silly mustache. It’s a short-hand for a genocidal dictator. As such, Trump is not Hitler, just as Barack Obama was not Hitler despite the claims of portions of the right.
Obviously the holocaust itself cannot be separated from the explicit genocide of Jews. But people can also clearly understand what describing someone as Hitler is intended to mean, with or without Jewish people being the targets.
