Second ('Third') Trump Presidency Thread

Demolishing the White House to make room for a 250 million dollar ballroom while Americans can’t afford healthcare is the epitome of “Let them eat cake.”
The ballroom is tacky and unnecessary but let’s be for real here: basically every president and high ranking official is having lavish events and the White House is a gigantic luxury home to begin with. Donald Trump is nothing more than a particularly brash and tacky avatar for the political class and honestly he at least has the decency to not hide it.

How he somehow became a folk hero fighting for the forgotten man is still mystifying and very funny, but this continued outrage over his stupid ass ballroom is a waste of everyone’s energy.

I'm indifferent on this remodel, I just don't want to hear a single line item complaint from any republican on any spending bill for the next 4 years.

I wandered around The No Kings rally in ATX. It was peaceful and calm and pretty boring if I’m being honest.

Some (most?) of the signs were silly but it wasn’t a “hate America” protest and not even close to violent. People even brought kids.

It’s why America remains the best. Where else in the world can millions gather in protest under a tyrant ruler fascist king without fear.
My favorite part of this post is 57 liked it without realizing he's being mocked

I’d challenge you on this one too. Every line item should be scrutinized. This shit ain’t financed with Monopoly money and we should never be comfortable with our tax dollars being spent frivolously. DOGE is a genuinely important endeavor and some of the boring shit they did like challenge credit card limits, memos on expense reports and unused licenses and programs were important. They just fucked it all to hell by putting a celebrity provocateur with no auditing experience in charge of it to do publicity stunts and pretend to find tons of fraud and waste that aligned with the left being crazy rather than the boring work of forensic accountants.

Agreed. All Democrats should encourage a general strike, and use all financial resources at their disposal to help it come to fruition. HCR should opine on how un-American it is for anyone to not strike, and Soros should pay for pro-strike advertising. Record producers should inject it into popular music, Hollywood executives should champion it in television and movies. Reddit mods should ban anyone against it, CNN, ABC, NBC, MSNBC, and the major newspapers should report on the necessity of a general strike. This should all be done with a goal of the strike occurring in October of 2028 to maximize its impact on the next presidential election.

Are you guys really that dense that you can't be bothered to read that this is being funded by private donors as well as Trump himself? Tax payors are not fronting a single cent.

I’m not attacking it beyond thinking it looks dumb, so I wasn’t commenting on the cost. I saw all about it being a bunch of donations. I don’t think it changes anything for me on my feelings. It’s still a big, dumb ballroom for our overlords to party in.
