You don't need a month to vote - Thats absolutely nonsense.
A month is a clean timeline. Gives you plenty of time and no excuse. If you want to narrow it a bit whatever. But there's no reason it can't be a month other than you don't want it.
Also I forgot to say Japan does have absentee aka mail in voting.
The point about early voting is that many of the reasons to do an absentee ballot go away if you have enough time to go to a poll. Can't use the I'm sick, I'll be away on vacation, can't get off work and dont' want to wait on line late at night in the cold. Etc.
Give me a reason why a month is truly outlandish.
